Hello dear community,
My husband and I are planning to return to BM this year after 8 years away. We are looking at tix for sale through STEP and I'm thoroughly confused on the pricing. My understanding is that tix cannot be resold for an amount greater than 7% above face value plus fees. In looking at the $650 tickets, however, most of the asking prices are in the mid- to upper-$800s - a good 15-20% above face value + fees. Am I missing something?

I am not an expert but I would suggest you reach out in your https://regionals.burningman.org/ an seek a STEP peer-to-peer sale.
That requires you to handle the exchange of money. You could meet them in a public place, they with their laptop, and you with yours, see the tickets appear in your burner profile and give them cash.
I think what may be happening is if you let STEP handle the cash it is subject to more fees and taxes.

As per the posted info, the fees on tickets through step are 7%, above that face value cost. The additional transaction and processing fees on peer-to-peer purchases would be in addition to the previously mentioned 7%. For questions on STEP, contact Ticket Support.
