After many great years as Brainy Bar, our camp is once again embracing change and switching things up as we rebrand ourselves as Atomic Octopus! We're a small group of arty weirdos who are currently based in Las Vegas. Our camp members have created and brought several different theme camps to Burning Man over the years. Magic Hand camp, Manatee Love Society, Vault Of Hell, Space Island, Eridu Society, and of course Brainy Bar.

In this year of Occo Mundi, we are focusing on the giant mechanical octopus that lives beneath the surface of the Black Rock Desert. When it's angry, it can churn up devastating dust storms (as we learned first hand on gate night at Burning Man 2025). This year, we're bringing the creature back and focusing on soothing the savage mechanical beast, as it were.

From time to time, we'll be serving libations (with options for drinkers and non-drinkers). We'll also have embiggened games like checkers, jenga and connect 4. Details are still coming together, but we are planning a Monday Morning Mimosa event (one of our favorite things from Brainy Bar), a Wednesday evening party with espresso and espresso martinis, and we're even planning a painting workshop on Thursday. In addition, we'll have a rubber stamp bar, nail salon, and the return of the time traveling coffee bar!

We are a small camp, and our space is already full up... but we invite you to come by and visit. We are part of 404: Village Not Found, and hoping for placement in the 3:00 sector. We'll post more details once placement is announced and all the pieces come together. We've already been hard at work on art and nonsense (here's a pic of the new camp sign at our recent regional campout), and are super excited for Burning Man 2026 - see you there!

Here's a quick teaser video of the camp frontage, rendered in C4D. Modeling and texturing skills are solid, but the camera operation is a little clunky.

The new bike rack sides came together nicely...

We've also been playing around with some storytelling, adding some backstory on our camp website about the Atomic Octopus and Occo Mundi, as well as adding Occo The Day image posts fairly regularly, for those who want to follow along in the fun.
