Server Stabilization

Post by spanky » Tue Jul 26, 2011 5:28 pm

Greetings once again!

Sorry about the outage the other day. I guess that's what happens when you run out of tickets for the greatest event ever produced(*). Well, I guess the machine we migrated the ePlaya to just wasn't up to the task. And that even AFTER we moved the database elsewhere! So, we scrambled and built up an Amazon EC2 instance and migrated the ePlaya up to the Cloud. It was pretty painless, and since then things seem to have stabilized. So, I'm proud to announce that the ePlaya is Burning Man putting it's first toe(?) into Cloud services.

Now that things are stable, we were also able to add some insightful monitoring apps, resolve some errors, and get an idea of the overall performance of the boards. And with that I am pleased to announce that we have just enabled some new caching mechanisms that should make your experiences on the board all that more enjoyable. We hope you like it!
