new word for the glossary: "burnerd"

Post by mooserider » Thu Aug 06, 2015 7:36 pm

Of course, everyone has heard the term "burgin" as a contraction for "Burning Man virgin". But I've been accused of being something else: a "burnerd" (pronounced burn-nerd). Seems this burgin has been doing so much research to protect my own scrawny pink hide on the playa that I'm actually changing the ways of veteran burners in my local regional. Thanks to the uncountable number of you helpful folks on ePlaya (if I tried to list every one who's provided useful information, I'm sure I'll miss someone).

Not so new (warning: PDF). Right side, under 'lingo".
It was used in a very different way than you're using it, and most lingo comes from things we hear floating around on-playa or on line.

I likeyour definition, apavlin. It is similar to a stealth virgin*, but not quite the same.

*"Wait, you're a virgin? But you have all your shit together and you actually know what you are talking about and can navigate the playa!"
When he lights his streetlamp, it is as if he brought one more star to life, or one flower.
When he puts out his lamp, he sends the flower, or the star, to sleep.
That is a beautiful occupation.
