That one I like a lot! Could also be used to energize an electric detonator -- instead of the pistol primer I had in mind.

(For entertainment purposes only. No actual thieves will be harmed. Do not attempt at home. And so on and so forth.)
I was thinking about a bicycle generator that builds up a charge after 30' or so & fires off a well-disguised automotive airbag but that could be lethal. So then I was thinking about a generator that supplies a charge to the seat. The farther/faster the thief peddles the stronger the shock to the nether regions. It’s all a matter of how dedicated the thief is as to how much they have to endure.
Cultural appropriation? Do I go over to your house during one of your BDSM sessions and slap the Nazi SS officer hat off of your head? - Bob

Just don't leave that bike near any of the BDSM camps. I'm sure someone would go out of their way to steal it once they knew what it was.

Yeah, were not going to be advocating illegal actions here or actions that can injure someone. A couple years back there was an entire thread that was based on "Bait Bikes" and options for all sorts of mayhem and it actually got out of control, We, the mods, chatted behind the scenes and acknowledged we could not allow semi serious plans for these various configurations to be passed on the Eplaya - I was guilty of chiming in at the time as well.

So lets game on, bring on the snark and mayhem, but lets keep the McGyvering plans to a minimum as far as trading details on how to actually build a pedal powered tooth knocker outer. (even if deserved by a thief)

Much of it was close to the road. Not a single item was stolen. I wouldn't have expected it to last a day in the default world.

Just providing a counter-anecdote, because that's all we have going here is a few scattered anecdotes from a really big city full of blurry social and physical boundaries.

I know bad things happen at Burning Man but in my three years there I've never even seen two bikers collide. So I guess it's easy for me to have the wrong impression. lol

Start with lock your own shit up...

Get a lock with a large bail/ring.. They are so large that it takes a 48 inch bolt cutter.. No one runs around with a four foot cuter... Use motorcycle lock cable..

First and for most.. If you can not afford to lose it.. Do not bring it to burning Man..

The above has been around since 2001...

Don't be blaming others for you drunken lose..
I'm the contraptioneer your mother warned you about.

I don't have a bike rack. I have an 8 foot cable with crimped things on the ends that form loops. They made it for me at HD. It stays on the ground wrapped around one of my vehicle tires. Instant anchor. All of my locks have the same key. All of our keychains are the 'reel' type so we don't have to remove them from our backpacks. Ride into camp and lock your bike to your car.

I also used my plastic baby cabinet lock at the portas. It works like a zip tie. You have to hold down two buttons to undo it. Just enough security to pee. (Otherwise I probably wouldn't lock it).
