Fly Ranch Project gets a book

Post by some seeing eye » Tue Oct 26, 2021 10:21 pm

Land art has been a thing for eons. The great serpent mounds and many others are examples. People have been building sculptures on the land from the Sun Dagger to Stonehenge. The contemporary artists got ahold of the idea too. From the Spiral Jetty to Roden Crater. Andy Goldsworthy would be another example.

So there are classic books on land art https://www.google.com/search?q=land+art+books.

The Fly Ranch Project reached out to curators the Land Art Generator Initiative to run a design competition. LAGI runs similar design, architecture, and art competitions all over the world with a focus on eco and sustainability.

It has been a good partnership and surprising number are proposed to be built.

The proposals have been turned into a coffee table book under the respectable imprinteur of the University of Chicago Press and a German art book publisher. It was edited by LAGI. It runs along the parallel lines of Burner art being recognized by the Smithsonian, Sotheby's, and by art book publishers. For this book they did get one outside art writer, William Fox http://wlfox.com/.

So you can have your own Fly Ranch coffee table book!
