Geez, go all dramatic on us, why don't you? This is a pathetic attempt on Ed and Rex's part to make somebody look like a liar by taking stuff down, letting the absence be reported, and then putting it all back up before most will look. Give it a few days.

So distrustful you are! Rex just broke his "see and spell". Give him a few weeks for parts and repair, and he'll be back online, more illiterate than ever.

You're still not getting it. Rex is an evil genius, and this is all part of his plan to get BMORG to let its guard down in January, when he'll sweep in with a brilliant argument. Really he will.

Seeing that they are helpless before their own anger, Ed and Rex will go on a pilgrimage to the East, where they will meet many wise men, be given much to think about, and understand none of it. Expect them back in a year or two.

As I mentioned in a post on another thread, if you were to look at Ed and Rex's site right now, you might get the impression that this was the end for that site. I wonder, though - is it really? Or will it pop back up tomorrow, next week, next year?

Time to put down your bets. I'll leave it up to you what you're wagering. I guess it's kind of like gifting. Toss your wager into the pot and let's see who wins the Ed and Rex Whacky Reappearance Sweepstakes!

Yes, but sad to say, that's unlikely to be the outcome, I'm pretty sure. Rex telegraphed his next move when he wrote that line "Goodbye and thanks for all the fish". Did you see "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy?" Think about who it was who said that line, and where they were at the end of the movie, and you'll see what I'm getting at. Somebody is trying to be clever.

Sorry to be so cryptic, but I don't want to post any movie spoilers. Some people wait for the thing to come to cable.

I think that you might be celebrating a little early, but maybe I'm wrong. What thanks there are seem to go to Observer, who "gave these guys the rope with which they hung themselves", as somebody put it on one of the lists, and the guy who called Dave Cooper and then refused to let Ed off the hook when Ed tried to squirm his way out of the awkward situation he had just put himself into.

Somebody said "don't poke that one". I disagree. Before, Ed and Rex were lefting trying to explain why, if their group had nothing to hide, such a large part of their archives was missing, but now? Wiping out the whole group is going to raise even more questions in the minds of anybody they might try to snow, but only if there are plenty of independent witnesses to the fact that they've done just that. Otherwise, it's "my word vs. your word" time, and trolls thrive on that.

You know...

I've been following this sock pilot's antics for a while, and I'm not sure which I found more telling - the blatant inconsistancies, the continuing desire to do damage to Burning man, or the disregard for this beautiful natural landscape by abusing it with his nneon...

Knowing there are TWO of these said pilots... well... the thoughts of two of them columbined is kinda scary.

I'm on his mailing list. (I subscribed but hardly ever read it) I'll have to see what he's up to.

My guess is that he took it down to do some improvements. Dont be surprised if it comes back with a better layout, colors and even more conflicting and ill-founded "truths."

I believe that you'll find that the stopburningman list is no longer in existence, which might mean that you're no longer on it. But I could be wrong on that, I suppose. Image

Does anyone miss it? I don't see anyone wailing about it disappearing.

Hmmm. I thought that you might be one of the ones wailing, having just looked at a few of your recent posts: 1 2 3 those just being a few that I found within a minute or so of looking. I wonder if there are more like these?

I happen to support some of their beliefs and core causes, but being honest about it I'm kinda glad to see it all go away. The Black Rock Desert is a vast place and focusing exclusively on BM's impact takes the focus away from bigger issues....like stopping that dang power plant. With StopBM apparently dead, there's room for a new group to spring up that has a bigger focus and could do more. Much more. And it would be stuff that could benefit a lot of people like the ones living down range of the plume from that behemoth....

So no...I'm not wailing, I'm happy it's gone.

I guess that I must now stand corrected, sort of. There is now a new stopburningman list, with a slight change in emphasis, one that I'm not sure that Ed and Rex will completely approve of. Quoting the description of the new group:

STOP!

Have you ever been at Burning Man and seen something that grabbed you so much you just had to STOP and at least take a look? This list is for discussing Burning Man experiences that just stopped you in your tracks like that. Maybe good, maybe strange, but something that made you notice and remember it.

The name of the new list is "Stop! And take a look at Burning Man " Tragically, if this new list should get going, this would mean that Ed and Rex would never be able to re-establish their old list at its previous location. Worse still, any link leading to the old list will now go to a place where those posting are encouraged to promote Burning Man. Terrible, just terrible. :)

I'm sure that most of you would be as broken up about that as I would be. Maybe even less so.

puh-leeze, nothing kills zombies short of decapitation, and from the one-sided discussions I get the feeling someone already tried that.

I would disagree. Notice that they've been gone for a few months, now. Their whole act, from day one, was pretending to care more about the truth than the burners did. The moment that somebody who they couldn't possibly accuse of being pro-bmorg checked out their story and found that it didn't check, they were in trouble. Everything they've done since, from going insane and attacking the person who truthfully reported what Dave Cooper had said (goodbye nice guy image) through deleting their list and taking down most of the homepage on their site (an open acknowledgement of the fact that they had something to hide) has resulted in them digging themselves into a deeper and deeper hole. At this point, even the anti-bmorg crowd seems to have no use for them.

Stick a fork in them. They're done.
