SLEEPERS AWAKE.

eastern transplants, show your roots (not your grey ones silly...) and feel the bitter flowing through your veins.....

yes....

let it out.....let your inner eastie, buried for so long under the sham of "everything is beautiful, have a glass of NAPA, relax", and hidden beneath your textured vegetable product is the true sour dough of Hardees, and that Bacon Burger they do so well...

you know you cant resist it....you drive by when your friends aren't looking, but late at night, you sneak into foster city, and eat flesh...

with cheese, no less...

hypocrites and liars, be true to thine own self, and join our east coast enclave, where we can be ourselves, and not have to listen to the harsh your mellows from the maddening crowd of sponge heads.

none of them being bob, either, and he's got square pants, so we know the difference.

you know where we'll coagulate.....the WEST side of the playa......duh.

You know what makes my blood boil? The aformentioned Jesus toes taking the playa commando style like the god damn hippy feet they are. Have these hoodlums grown weary of papercutting their own eyeballs and resort to more primitive forms of masochism? I'll bet they're popin' goofballs or something.

This year I'm going to give these granola eaters a piece of my mind! Better yet we a new rule. Thus forward it is compulsory for all barefoot hippies to wear stiletto heals for the weeks duration. I would suggest they be required to fill out reams of "stiletto placement" paperwork too. We wouldn't want them breaking up the dirt so I have to stop my bike and perceive my surroundings would we?

I dress like an "ordinary person" on the playa as part of my performance art piece. It's been a deep passion of mine for the last 8 years. For me to try and explain it here would ruin it's impact, and I suspect most people still reading this lame thread are not sophisticated enough to "get it" anyway, just like those people who approach me on the playa to tell me I'm "doing it wrong".

Ok Simon, on this one, you're on your own. Far be it for me to besmirch your well-worn, playa-encrusted footwear, but really man: you no get no tough guy points for Gucci loafers. I don't care how beat up they are.

Someone yelled "Boo! Tourist" at me my first year. I had many mots d'escallier over that. I thought of telling about how my vacuum cleaner had succumbed to small bits of copper wire and l.e.d.s that fell to the carpet, of how my sneakers were spotted now with blacklight paint, and I have shoe boxes filled with unused speakers and other electrical parts. I've had a ball making a designing all this silly shit. Looking back I wish I had just gone over and given them a hug and then a wet willie in their ear. Fuck it, I'm in if I say I'm in.

The trick is not to care.

Dork has clearly forgotten what I was wearing on the playa.
Probably khakis and wingtips.

When I meet burners of fifteen to twenty years, they are invariably dressed for the desert.

Next time tell them, "Your last suit has no pockets."

They probably won't catch more than two meanings anyway, on or off the staircase, so maybe just a "Boo, ravers!" is called for?

I brought an inflatable Sumo wrestler costume and learned quickly that those little fans are perfect for putting a pound an hour of dust inside of your suit! This year it gets a filter!!!

ROFLMAO (and I have never used that shortform!)

You can't imagine how funny that image is with playa dust making the costume sag in different places. I'm thinking okay it sags where the seam are and you've got three extra....

okay, never mind, I guess you had to be here for that visual to play.

haha this thread reminded me of a funny moment....

It was the AZ decomp last year, they have a giant geo dome that i think i swing got caught up on or something and people were trying to get it down. During this i was spinning my staff in the dome. After the song ended i sat down and this woman comes up to me and asks me to dance, now I'm not a dancer and don't find it incredibly fun, i told her i was JUST dancing (ya know, with my staff) and didn't really want to. She persisted and i told her i don't like to dance she then proceeded to call my friend and i spectators. We laughed amongst ourselves and left the dome....what a joke

The Angry Man
by Phyllis McGinley

The other day I chanced to meet
An angry man upon the street —
A man of wrath, a man of war,
A man who truculently bore
Over his shoulder, like a lance,
A banner labeled “Tolerance.â€
