YOUR MOST INSPIRING SONG LYRICS

Post by 303jewels » Thu Jul 16, 2009 2:00 pm

Sorry if this has been done before but, think its a nice thing.

I go first.....

''Throw down all your weapons
.......As strange as it may seem
And maybe we can travel
.......Beyond our wildest dreams?

Juan Atkins AKA 'Model 500', Detroit Techno 1985, Track title - 'No UFO's'

Like all good lyrics I think theres a lot more to that one than meets the eye! Quite philosophical!
Timeless motion..........

This might not be philosophical at all, but I found it cathartic in the last two divorces ...

Artist: Ministry
Song: Flashback
Album: The Land of Rape and Honey

I'm gonna kill him
I'm gonna break his face
I'm gonna crack his skull
I'm gonna kick it all in
I'm gonna break his legs off
I'm gonna rip his head off
and then shit down his neck
and then I'll laugh like a motherfucker
and then I'll laugh like a motherfucker
coz i hate her
and then I'll fall past
I'm gonna flashback
flashback

coz I hate her

pneumatic drill
right through her chest
bedroom punching
right through the rest
I'm gonna make her suffer
I'm gonna make her suffer
and then watch her die
coz I hate her
and then I'll fall past
I'm gonna flashback
flashback

coz I hate her

I'm gonna rip her flesh
I'm gonna piss in her face
I'm gonna rip her open
and then hit her with mace
I'm gonna make her suffer
I'm gonna make her suffer
I'm gonna make her cry
I'm gonna watch her die
coz I hate her
and then I'll fall past
I'm gonna flashback
flashback

I hate her
flashback
laugh like a motherfucker

"addicted to bad ideas"
World Inferno Friendship Society

I wasn't always a monster,
I was a prince.
Now, so broken, so,
Addicted to bad ideas & to drugs
& to all the beauty in this world, I know

Though I have grown older & graver,
the great heart of the world remains ever young.
I wasn't always a monster, I was a prince.
Now, so broken, so.

I wasn't always a monster,
I was a saint.
Now, forgotten, so,
Addicted to bad ideas & to the blood
that runs from my eyes and my hands and my throat

Though I have grown older & graver,
the great heart of the world remains ever young.
I wasn't always a monster, I was a prince.
Now, so broken, so.

Because I can, 'cuz there's no one to stop me
'Cause it makes up for things that I lost
To feel your tug at my soul,
The slap of your gaze over my face

To fail and to live long
To fail and to live long
To fail and to live long
To fail and to live long

Because I can, 'cuz there's no one to stop me
'Cause it makes up for things that I lost
To feel your tug at my soul,
The slap of your gaze over my face

To fail and to live long
To fail and to live long
To fail and to live long
To fail and to live long

Because I can
'Cause no one can stop me
'Cause it makes up for things I lost

Because I'm addicted to bad ideas
and all the beauty in this world

A couple of times, this has been on the radio as we approached Reno

Well, I just got into town about an hour ago
Took a look around, see which way the wind blow
Where the little girls in their Hollywood bungalows

Are you a lucky little lady in the City of Light
Or just another lost angel...City of Night
City of Night, City of Night, City of Night, woah, c'mon

Artist: The Golden Palominos featuring Nicole Blackman
Song: Victim
Album: Dead Inside

I feel the motion of the car before I open my eyes.
The air is blue-black, brown-black, black-black.
Smell of gas, oil, animals.
I'm in the trunk.

My wrists and ankles tied.
Tape over my mouth
it almost covers my nose
but I can breathe barely.
I must have been here for hours,
everything's stiff and my head throbs
like someone's drumming on china.

The car stops.
He turns off the motor -- but there are no traffic sounds.
No people sounds. No wind. What place has no wind?
I turn my head towards the sounds
like people watch radios when something terrible happens.

My palms are sweating. Where am I?
The trunk squeaks as he lifts it up and the sun blinds me.
He almost looks like a faceless Jesus surrounded by light.
He pulls me out of the trunk and bangs my head against the door.
I try to cry out, but it comes like a hum.

He drags me, half-standing, along a dirt road into a house.
I can't see any other houses and it looks like a farm.
The screen door bangs behind me and I feel a deep, deep pressure inside.
All the rules have changed here.

I'm dragged down a hall like a bag and I look for a phone, other doors.
Nothing but bare floors and brown boxes in small rooms.
He pulls me into the bathroom
and I almost crack my head as he pushes me onto the floor.
Tilts his head to the side and gazes at me
as if I was a pet then walks out.

I'm lying there for a long time, trying to get the tape off of me.
My eyes are tearing. I don't make a sound.
I can't get up and I keep rolling from side to side, trying not to make noise.

I've got to get him to talk to me.
If I can get this thing off my face I can talk to him.
I'll tell him my name.
Have you killed other women in here?
I'm thinking you've got hundreds of them nailed down,
hung on walls, hanging from ceiling fans
swinging dead in summer wind.

Why did you pick me?
If I had stayed to finish at the library
I would have been there twenty minutes longer
maybe I'd have been OK.
Would have rushed into the house, books piled up in my arms like a baby,
and blurted explanations why I was sorry.
So sorry I'm late everyone.

Would you have waited for me anyway?
Would you have picked another woman?
Would I have read about her in the paper and said
oh my god, I was there that night...
and called all my friends in a panic.
Telling them then how much I loved them
as if I'd never have the chance again.

I wonder what everyone is doing now. Putting up signs.
Showing my picture on the evening news. Calling old friends.
Maybe I'm not even considered missing yet.

The family will fall apart and my parents will go crazy. Slowly.
My brother will be so quiet at the funeral and insist the casket be closed.
(I never even told anyone what kind of funeral I wanted when I died.)

Maybe years from now they'll find my skeleton
on the floor here and they'll have to use dental records to identify me.
My family will say \"At least we know now.
We always hoped she was alive somewhere.
We just hope she's in peace.\"

When I sleep my dreams are crazy -- I'm flying over fields.
I don't think I sleep for more than twenty minutes and when I wake up,
it feels like I'm under a heavy blanket. I'm still here.

As I wake up I hear a dog barking in the distance
and I think I'm in my parents' house in South Carolina.
When I open my eyes, there's a shotgun pressed between them.
I'll never get married.
I'll never have kids.
I'll never go to Europe.
I'll never learn to play piano.
I'll never write a book.

The last thing I hear is a click

I Love Barbie!!!

Artist: The Cure
Song: killing an Arab
Album: 7" single

Inspired by literary works of Albert Camus: The Stranger

Oddly enough this was required reading in the Serbian highschool I attended. Go figure.

Standing on the beach
With a gun in my hand
Staring at the sea
Staring at the sand
Staring down the barrel
At the arab on the ground
I can see his open mouth
But I hear no sound

I'm alive
I'm dead
I'm the stranger
Killing an arab

I can turn
And walk away
Or I can fire the gun
Staring at the sky
Staring at the sun
Whichever I chose
It amounts to the same
Absolutely nothing

I'm alive
I'm dead
I'm the stranger
Killing an arab

I feel the steel butt jump
Smooth in my hand
Staring at the sea
Staring at the sand
Staring at myself
Reflected in the eyes
Of the dead man on the beach
The dead man on the beach

I'm alive
I'm dead
I'm the stranger
Killing an arab

That's the Way the Story Goes

Post by gyre » Fri Jul 17, 2009 1:22 am

I can't find the video anymore.
In DaVinci's Inquest, this song plays as DaVinci walks down the street with a big pipe cutter over his shoulder and cuts off a parking meter.

Click on the track to hear the song.

"I'm headed back along the coast
Accompanied by Ma Rainey's ghost
We had ourselves a little toast
And here's to getting better
It's later than you think my friend
And pretty soon you at the end
And there's no celebration
For the ones with hesitation
This is only just a glimpse
You've only got your fingerprints
They call it insignificance
And brother, they ain't lying

Forget the gravitation pull
Movies are the miracle
And while those reels are playing
You'll forget that you're decaying
The piper's at the gates of dawn
He's playing dirges, not a song
In a finger snap, we'll all be gone
And not a tree will miss us
Everyone you ever knew
Could die and wouldn't make page two
There's thousands disappearing
Without anybody hearing, but...
That's the way that the story goes
That's the way the story goes

You give your money to the poor
What are all the savings for?
Your fingers must get really sore
From counting all the pennies
On your deathbed making bets
And tying up those last regrets
When your priest is finished listening
A newborn baby he'll be christening

I'm headed back along the coast
Accompanied by Ma Rainey's ghost
We raised our glass and had a toast
Said, "Here's to having been here"
Even if this story bores you
Mr. Death is coming for you
It's just yourself you're tricking
Clocks around the world are ticking

That's the way that story goes
That's the way the story goes
I tell ya, that's the way the story goes."

Pantera - Good Friends and a Bottle of pills

I fucked your girlfriend last night.
While you snored and drooled, I fucked your love.
She called me Daddy. And I called her baby when I
Smacked her ass.
I called her sugar when I ate
Her alive till daylight. And I slept with her all
Over me, from forehead to ribcage I dripped her ass.
Sometimes I thought you might be spying, living out some
Brash fantasy, but no. You were knocked out. But we were
All knocked out you know. In a way

I serve too many masters.

We didn't know you'd break the bottle that the magic
Came in to use those jagged shards to slit our wrists
And neck. And you'd do it too, you're that kind of dude.
But you wouldn't know what you were doing because
I didn't, your girlfriend could have been a burn
Victim, an amputee, a dead body. But god damn I wanted
To fuck.

Mine are:

Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros, from the song Bhindi Bhagee:

Welcome stranger to the humble neighborhoods
You can get inspiration along the highroad

(This always reminds me of Black Rock City)

Thievery Corporation, from song The Richest Man in Babylon:

There is no quidance in your kingdom
Your wicked walk in Babylon
There is no wisdom to your freedom
The richest man in babylon

Your beggars sleep outside your doorway
Your prophets leave to wonder on
You fall asleep at night with worry
The saddest man in Babylon

The wicked stench of exploitation
Hangs in the air and lingers on
Beneath the praise and admiration
The weakest man in Babylon

There is no hope left in your kingdom
Your servants have burned all their songs
Nobody here remembers freedom
The richest man in Babylon

(scat)
babylon no get rich again
but to end up sick again
and you end up weak again
babylon
(scat)

babylon you run
you better know you you better understand
the rancher man you better hear what we say
babylon this is your final day
babylon this is your final call
read the writing that's on the wall
see divided we stand
and together we fall
you never know that
you not gon' catch me in a rat pack
we not gon' fall away from it jah
no way

Artist: Tool
Song: Prison Sex
Album: Undertow

It took so long to remember just what happened.
I was so young and vestal then,
you know it hurt me,
but I'm breathing so I guess I'm still alive
even if signs seem to tell me otherwise.
I've got my hands bound,
my head down, my eyes closed,
and my throat wide open.

Do unto others, what has been done to me,
Do unto others, what has been done to you?

I'm treading water,
I need to sleep a while.
My lamb and martyr, you look so precious.
Won't you come on up closer,
close enough so I can smell you.
I need you to feel this,
I can't stand to burn too long.
Release in sodomy.
Oh, for one sweet moment I am whole.

Do unto you now, what has been done to me,
Do unto you now, what has been done?

You're breathing so I guess you're still alive
even if signs seem to tell me otherwise.
Won't you come on a bit closer,
close enough so I can smell you.
I need you to feel this.
I need this to make me whole.
Release in sodomy.
For I am your witness and
blood and flesh can be trusted.(X2)
And only this one holy medium brings me peace of mind.

Got your hands bound, your head down,
your eyes closed.
You look so precious now.

( Show me something
Thought I could make it end
Thought I could wash the stains away
Thought I could break the circle if I
Slipped right into your skin
So sweet was your surrender
We have become one
I have become my terror
And you my precious lamb and martyr.) *

I have found some kind of temporary sanity in this
shit, blood, and cum on my hands.

I've...come...round...full circle.
My lamb and martyr, this will be over, soon.
You look so precious.(X4)
You look so precious, now,
You look so precious...

My makeup is dry and it clags on my chin
Im drowning my sorrows in whisky and gin
The lion tamers whip doesnt crack anymore
The lions they wont fight and the tigers wont roar

La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
So lets all drink to the death of a clown
Wont someone help me to break up this crown
Lets all drink to the death of a clown
Lets all drink to the death of a clown

Got it hit down
spot knock inside a spider
says: "That's love yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!"
"That's love yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!"
says: "That's love - All know it
TV, teeth, feet, peace, feel it...
"That's love yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!"
"That's love yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!"

like the fall that brings me to
I like the fall that brings me to
I like the cord around sinew
I make a cord around sinew

Duck, the way to least is less
Tea craving of the metal west
'ell tomorrow's rain and test
'ell tomorrow's rain and test
Love an empty son and guess
Love an empty son and guess
pimples dangerous and blessed

Heaving, arriving, tinkling
mingling jets and statuettes
seething wet we meeting fleck
seething wet we meeting fleck
lines and winds and crib and half
each fair day I give you half
of each fair day I give you half
I look into your eyes and you,
flathe in the sun for you...

Bam, spastic, tactile engine
heaving, crackle, slinky, dormy, roofy, wham
I'll have them, fried bloke
broken jardy, cardy, smoocho, moocho, paki, pufftle
sploshette moxy, very smelly,
cable, gable, splintra, channel
top the seam he's taken off

rats, rats lay down flat
we don't need you, we act like that
and if you think you're un-loved
then we know about that...
rats, rats, lay down flat!
yes, yes, yes, yes, lay down flat!

Artist: Recoil featuring Nicole Blackman
Song: Breath Control
Album: Liquid

Who wouldn’t want a good girl, a soft hand, a gentle woman for a gentleman?

He said,
"It’s been fine so far but after a while I want more than a soft style.
I want some slashes to go with those long eyelashes."
And so the bedroom became the black room
but a year later he wanted something more, something I wasn’t quite prepared for.

He said,
"Every woman has an itch and every nice girl secretly wants to switch.
I like how the skins look on your white hands.
I’d like you to deliver one of my demands."

He said,
"Every woman has an itch and every nice girl wants to switch." He led me in and lit the
room with a hundred candles and said "God never gives you more than you can handle."
I sat astride his chest, "It’s just a thrill," he said, as he relaxed on the dark, dark bed,"it’s just breath control."
He whispered "Hold me here" and I did and his head fell back.
He whispered "Press harder" and I did and his eyes rolled back. It’s just breath control.

Just breath control.
I saw him go pale.
I saw him seize up,
I felt something creep up like a taste for this.
Like a reward.
A kind of love, a kind of lustmord.
It was a minute then three then five then ten, he wasn’t coming up again.
I held on for twelve.
I saw him seize and thrash and twist and when he was still,
I lifted away my wrists and looked at my hands and tried to understand.
"It’s just a thrill"
I said as he relaxed on the dark, dark bed.
I sat aside his chest, "It’s just a thrill," he said, "just a thrill.
It’s just breath control."

When it was over, I slipped off the skins and drowned them in the river where we used to swim and a year later in a shop,
I was stopped by a man.

He said,
"I know you’re looking for something that’s hard to find and I think I have what you have in mind."
And he led me to a glass case and looked deep into my face...

"It’s just control."

You're breakin' my heart,
you're tearin' it apart,
so fuck you

All I want to do,
is have a good time,
now I'm blue

You wanna boogaloo,
run down to Tramps,
have a dance or two--ooh!!

You're breaking my heart,
you're tearin' it apart,
but fuck you

You're breakin' my heart,
You're tearin' it apart
Ooh!!--ooh!!

You stepped on my ass,
you're breaking my glasses too

You wanna drive my car,
buy a lot of stuff,
I've had enough
of you--ooh!!

I'm goin' insane,
there's no one to blame,
so fuck you

You've gotta have your way,
there's nothin' left to say,
there's nothin' left to do--ooh!!

You're breakin' my heart,
you're tearin' it apart,
so fuck you

You've gotta have your way,
there's nothin' left to say,
there's nothin' left to do--ooh!!

You're breakin' my heart,
you're tearin' it apart,
but I love you

PUSHIT

I will choke until I swallow... Choke this infant here before me. What is this but my reflection? Who am I to judge and strike you down? But you're pushing and shoving me. You still love me and you pushit on me. Rest your trigger on my finger, bang my head upon the fault line. Take care not to make me enter. 'cause if I do we both may disappear. But you're pushing me, shoving me. Pushit on me. Slipping back into the gap again. I'm alive when you're touching me, alive when you're shoving me down. But i'd trade it all for just a little bit of piece of mind. Put me somewhere I don't wanna be. Seeing someplace I don't wanna see. Never wanna see that place again. Saw that gap again today as you were begging me to stay. Managed to push myself away, and you, as well. If, when I say I may fade like a sigh if I stay, you minimize my movement anyway, I must persuade you another way. There's no love in fear. Staring down the hole again. Hands upon my back again. Survival is my only friend. Terrified of what may come. Just remember I will always love you, even as I tear your fucking throat away. But it will end no other way.

I would say the song lyrics that inspire me the most are those in David Bowie's Space Oddity.
The song tells a story of an astronaut who upon arriving in space decides to just keep flying when asked why he responds "Planet Earth is Blue and there's nothing I can do."
It represents to me the temptation to forget keeping a clear head and trying to change things--instead choosing to depart for a fantasy world.

Peace, love, intellectual stimulation, and good times!

Artist: Bob Dylan
Song: The man in the long black coat
Album: Oh Mercy

The preacher was a'talking, there was a sermon he gave
he said every man's conscience is vile and depraved

You cannot depend on it to be your guide
when it's you who must keep it satisfied

Dunno why I like it so much, I just do :)

I can think of a few song lyric portions of note from songs that inspire me:

"You want to rip all the jewels
off all the idiots' backs so badly,
You scream give me what I've always missed,
give me a good time;
But if you look into your mirror
You'll see that nobody,
has ever ripped you off,
It's all in your mind."

--"All In My Mind", by Love and Rockets:

. . .

"Down at the station stood my dear ol' mother,
Oh well she keep on, keep on screamin' and a-cryin';
"Oh Lord, I wonder what my son has done."

"Oh Lord (oh Lord), there ain't no heaven,
Oh Lord (oh Lord), there ain't no heaven ."

--"No Heaven", by DJ Champion:

. . .

"Ave, formosissima, gemma pretiosa!"

Dulcissima!

Vidi florem floridum, vidi florum florem,

Vidi rosam Madii cunctis pulchriorem,
Vidi stellam splendidam, cunctis clariorem,
Per quam ego degeram lapsus in amorem.

Quid plus? Collo virginis brachia iactavi
Mille dedi basia, mille reportavi,
Atque sepe sepius dicens affirmavi:
"Certe, certe istud est id, quo anhelavi!"
