Should Idiots and Socks be Banned from Eplaya?

Post by theCryptofishist » Wed Aug 19, 2009 3:25 pm

Cause, ya know, I don't want to share bandwidth with just anyone.

I'd have to find a different thing to volunteer for.

But I wouldn't have the urge to smash my screen as often.

wondering if I should make a sock so I can be banned?

next it will be all non-human life forms...

then we will all have to post our mundane names, addresses...

when will it stop?

You can make a sock and make your regular account into your sock.

That'll fry them.

I have a sock, but I screwed up the registration. I should ask Dork to fix me up.

Even Sadam Hussein had new underwear and socks in that spiderhole. Remember him?

Nobody doesn't like socks, even dictators. This is a politics thread after all.

i believe if you count the number of socks i have you'll see it's just right for the whole week.

a freshie a day keeps playa foot away.

there is NOTHING like breaking out a pair of virgin socks, fresh from the package and starting the day right with happy happy feet.

there is no argument against this true principle.

Since it's a political thread, I'll add a little story from yesterday's news.

Our Canadian Prime Minister, Steven Harper, made a presentation in our most northerly city, Iqaluit yesterday. His office issued a press release but they spelled Iqaluit incorrectly. They spelled it Iqualuit.

From the Inuktitut language (Eskimo or Inuit folks), Iqaluit means: many fish

However, the meaning changes to : people with unwiped bums
when the extra 'u' is added.

The entire far north exploded with anger with a bit of tittering too.

I expect that PM Harper would dearly like to be a sock today.

ADOPT A SOCK! thats the solution!

Deb, thats really funny, if you notice this is a thread about idiots and socks, the forum is politics and philosophy of Burning Man, the "open Discussion" thread is for world or Canadian politics.

History of homelessness

Great Depression: man lying down on pier, New York City docks, 1935.
[edit] Great Britain and the USA

[edit] Early history through the 1800s
Following the Peasants' Revolt, British constables were authorised under a 1383 statute to collar vagabonds and force them to show their means of support; if they could not, the penalty was gaol.[5] Under a 1495 statute, vagabonds could be sentenced to the stocks for three days and nights; in 1530, whipping was added. The presumption was that vagabonds were unlicensed beggars.[5] In 1547, a bill was passed that subjected vagrants to some of the more extreme provisions of the criminal law, namely two years servitude and branding with a "V" as the penalty for the first offense and death for the second. One arriving in the American colonies in the 18th century were transported convicts. Large numbers of vagabonds were transported along with ordinary criminals.[6]

In the 16th century in England, the state first tried to give housing to vagrants instead of punishing them, by introducing bridewells to take vagrants and train them for a profession. In the 17th and 18th centuries, these were replaced by workhouses but these were intended to discourage too much reliance on state help.

In 1848 Lord Ashley referred to more than 30,000 'naked, filthy, roaming lawless and deserted children', in and around London.[7]

Although not specifically about the homeless, Jacob Riis wrote about, documented, and photographed the poor and destitute in New York City tenements in the late 1800s. He also wrote a ground-breaking book including such material in How the Other Half Lives in 1890.

Meat? Am I being barbequed? :D

Look forward to meeting you too. Actually really looking forward to meeting all of you. Thursday 6PM at the Barbie Death Village

PS - I'll be late getting to the party. Caleb's memorial is scheduled for the same time (not a time of my choosing). It breaks my heart to have to choose. If you folks can keep the party going for awhile, I'll come over for a drink after the memorial. Methinks that will be a good idea.
