Who gives a rat's piss about anything Addis has to say. Marginally talented by any honest measure, his planned jump back into the kiddie pool of sophomoric humor is bound to create a tsunami of YAWN.
Other than that the Mr. I-Don't-Need-My-Meds will likely just fade back into the port-o-john of failed, self-absorbed artists.
He should have stuck with the Midas muffler gig in Vegas rather than intentionally setting out to bore us with his verbally puerile Sominex schtick.

You presume much douchy. I think most people here and about can say with some degree of certainty that the thorn was plucked a while back once the banality of Paul's 'statement' set in and the sheer mediocrity of his ranting 'message' was seen for the juvenile pud pulling that it in fact was.love how he's still a thorn in these little get-along-to-go-along's sides.
The blatherings of a certified basket case are only interesting for so long until it just starts sounding like another nut job standing on a street corner yelling at the pigeons. Given the relatively short shelf life of Paul's notoriety, I think most people saw his action morph into the realm of Crazy Whack Job With Nothing to Say quite a while back.
But hey, feel free to drop us a line when Ass Boy decides to put on another one-man show. Might I suggest for a second piece something along the lines of, say, Delusional Narcissism and Its Irrelevance In a Time of Better Things to Fucking Do With Free Time.

Please don't whine about a person who intentionally antagonized BMorg by his foolish miscalculations and got swatted hard for his OWN stupid actions. What sounded like a really cool idea at the time, turned out to be arson of an occupied structure. Kind of like setting a movie theatre on fire because you don't like the movie.
Apparently two years in jail was not quite enough for this bubblehead! It's time for him to obsess about something new to keep himself occupied.

Thought it was REALLY amazing that they could rebuild it in the nick of time & limited supplies speaks to the builders skill & passion to resurrect

2007 was my first burn and, for me, the unscheduled immolation of the 'man' only added to the wonderfully bizarre and unexpected atmosphere of the event. And dare I say weirdness? One of the things I adore most about Burning Man is how wonderfully weird it is.
That said, regarding the subject of Paul Addis' actions, I'm noticing a much wider range of opinions in the comments section following the Bay Guardian article than here on ePlaya. Not sure why that is but I find it interesting.
I'm glad I read the Guardian comments otherwise I would not have been exposed to the claim that a protest torching of the 'man' had been openly discussed among many long time Burners/Pranksters for almost ten years. Their reasons for wanting to do that seem to warrant some consideration. Still not sure on which side of the debate I would fall though. Not enough information.
The only strong opinion I have on this topic is that Paul Addis' two year prison sentence was excessive.

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

Let me rephrase that: There were people in a structure that an arsonist decided to set on fire above them without any of them knowing. Just because he wanted to make a statement. I.e.: his statement was more important than other peoples lives.
He's lucky no-one was hurt, and got off easy, regardless of what you think of his motives.
Honestly I hadn't thought about him in years until this thread came up. He's in the dustbin of history.

I think it's great that the LLC did an accurate accounting of the charges they incurred to clean up from Mr. Addis's felonious activity. They were doing their fiduciary duty as every LLC is required to do. In an age of corporate fuckups, lies, and cooking the books, I give the BM LLC a big round of applause for accurate bookkeeping.
The fact that it made Mr. Addis's charges go into felony territory is simply a bonus.

Eric,
Do you have a link or perhaps recall where you got the info that there were people in the structure? I've read much about this, albeit some time ago, and I don't recall this detail. Nor do the charges match it. Were you there?
It is the one burn I did not attend in 15 years. I was driving east away from the playa when I heard about the early burn at a gas station, and passed the info along to obvious burners on their way in. At the time I thought it was hilarious and very appropriate to the history of the event.
This info would undoubtedly alter my opinion. I cannot imagine not checking, rechecking and loudly warning people in the immediate area and checking again before undertaking such an act.
To those who gleefully mock any man being imprisoned over moderately valued and highly replaceable materials (wood), I fear, have little understanding of how traumatic prison is or even of how valueless $5,000 is. I do not know Addis, and he sounds like someone I would only be able to tolerate for half a day, tops.

As an eleven year Ranger on call that night I can confirm that there were indeed people at and under the structure when Addis pulled his tantrum and set fire to the structure.Do you have a link or perhaps recall where you got the info that there were people in the structure? He was arrested for trying to light up Grace Cathedral in SF. Enough said! Not sure if he was aware of it, but Grace Cathedral is mostly made of stone.
