What should my art look like? Should it be juried in?

What say you, COMRADES? What is acceptable to you?

I'd say show up with a truck loaded with live chicken and have a plucking camp, next to the car-b-que.

The RULES are posted. That's called the survival guide and everyone is supposed to read it as the first step of preparation.

If you don't care for Burning Man's flavor, you have an entire continent to create your own event. Have fun.

well, seeing as the event that exists isn't the event he wants it to be I think we did a good job on letting him know what he was potentially getting into and what Burning Man is.

The fact he got all pissy about the fact that it's not what he wants it to be lets us know who he is.

You're a sick person. We will ball-gag and restrain an ostrich, pluck it, and restrict the pain to a single creature.

nah. It's obvious only sheeple know how to set their profile coding. The truly original thinkers like their posts to look like crap- kinda like 60's marxists looking filthy to prove they were free from "the Man".

I have trouble empathizing with the feeling's expressed by the OP.

Burning Man is an experimental community, this probably means something different to everyone but for me part of what it means is that we allow for things to change.

The atmosphere in Black Rock city is directed by the participants, if a person feels they have some sort of new/different energy to share with the community I expect they would be included quite nicely. People on the playa are incredible receptive to new ideas.

A lot of the rules are there to address problems that arise with behaviors and ideas that are already incredibly outdated. Mooping, for example, is "banned" because that is an old bad habit that this community realizes has a negative impact.

If a person litters on the playa they aren't being creative they are just being stupid

Truthfully, no one likes complaining, especially when its hot and there are so many cool things to do and people to meet.

According to BQ, they wont even be there, so why do i care

Yeah, but I miss that show sometimes.

Based on textural clues the op hasn't said anything worth my un-plonking him.
woo hoo?

Ok, Are you unhappy that there are, blush, some rules??

Just think what 20,000 vehicles would do to the relatively fragile environment if they were to go wherever the heck they wanted on the playa... The fence and closure area are an effort to keep the damage to a minimum, plus the land is leased specifically for the event and the BLM dictates many things that the event organizers must adhere to... Like it or not.

Most of the rules are the result of a necessity for those rules, not because some dickwad made some proclamation from on high.

Either go or not, It does not matter to me either way.

I'm getting the impression that you are not a proper anarchist. Turn in your card.

Has there been any discussion of taking this event private to prevent the eventual total control by THE MAN?

there is quite a difference, between an "anarchist" and a dick head who just wants to "stir it up".
Usually, for narcissistic reasons of self aggrandizement and self satisfaction, related to a Napoleonic complex and a need for attention.

but, that's just my guess.

I'd be happy to gift you as many alcoholic beverages until you pass out.

But I think we may have a problem starting an Alliance of Agreeable Anarchists. Or even Agreeable Anarchists.

That's the thing. What's good for one may not be good for another. There is no possible thing as Utopia. One man's Utopia is another man's slavery.

If you folks could find a private farmer to agree to hosting this party you would gain much more "freedom" credibility. We could walk around naked, smoke pot, light off fireworks, ride motorcycles... Of course that brings up a completely new set of problems such as insurance, liability, etc. But it would cut out the MAN.
