How hard do you plan to party, and whats the longest you've stayed awake on the playa?

Mr. Darwin, paging Mr. Darwin....you're party is awaiting you in the med tent.....

Longest I've stayed awake an functional on playa was about 40 hours or so. That was with no stimulants except for caffeine, as I was on shift in one place or another during that time.

Dr Helix wrote:No drinking in the morning. Ever. Maybe beer around three. Then before I go out, A shot of whiskey. Or two. maybe three. The playa takes care of the rest of my high. No other recreationals. Sleep at 4am till 9am. Small laydown at 2 for an hour. Eating well. Light dinner. And I always do a hard crash on Thursday, as in to bed by 10pm. I do all right.

Listen to the Dr. here. Not to define someone else's burn, but this is just about as perfect a schedule as I'd imaging to be able to partake, get reasonable rest and food and not miss large amounts of shit sleeping substances off.

I decided that I'm going to party as hard as I possibly can until I can't anymore, then sleep, then repeat the process. Minimal breaks in partying only for enjoying that art stuff, and trying to force foods down my throat.

The longest I've gone is about 40 hours without sleep on the Playa, then I'm shit for a couple days.

Off the Playa, I've gone over 90 hours without sleep. Work related.
Not recommended.

One hardcore drunk day may cost you a day for recovery, plan well.

I've found a little buzz will make the heat more tolerable, but stick with hard alcohol and stay away from any sugar(that will give you hangover headaches).

B-complex vitamins will help with recovery, as well as keeping hydrated.

The best option would be to be able to heal(regenerate) very quickly.

I'm going to supplement my usual vitamin/nootropic stack with a bunch of extra things strictly for my party endeavors at BM. All my friends say I look like an old man in the morning eating like 25 different pills, but I feel like a million bucks most of the time and everyone wonders why.

If anyone is interested to hear the stack I take to stay healthy/active and to keep my brain from melting out my ears, let me know and I'll post the list and dosages.

I might just make a thread... :P

One of our camp mates was ready for his night out on the playa and before he left, he had two shots of 160 proof absinthe straight. We never saw him return but saw his boots by his tent in the morning. Through the night he did NOS, shrooms, E and who knows what else.

He was totally wasted the entire next day. I just kept liquids going down his gullet with gatorade and water until he pissed clear. It took him half the day before he even pissed the first time. It was like coffee. When you get inebriated, you lose sensitivity to your body's needs.

Whatever else I'm drinking, I make sure to get at least a half gallon of beneficial fluids down me each 24 hour period.

edit: Playa time is too precious to waste being totally wasted.

Ahmen!!!!!

I've found the easiest way for me to achieve this goal was on accident. I intalled a camel pack bladder and hose in a non camel bak back pack. The hose is a little short. So its constantly poking me in the right cheek, ear, eye, and nose.
So almost every time I look right, I'm reminded to drink water.
Only down side, I'm constantly having to hit the porto's.

Tip= Make it hard not to drink water, so you don't forget when you're waisted!

I would like to see that list.

I recently had a long weekend partying with some firefighters. These guys were smart enough to bring IVs with saline and rigged themselves up with an IV of fluids each morning. Fucking genius. If anyone knows how a non-medical professional could get this type of gear (IVs and saline) I would really like to be able to do this.

A word of advice about chemical use on the playa, take it easy at first and see how it effects you out there. My first year I found that because of the extremes of playa life that the chemicals I partook of hit me a lot harder than usual. I needed only a very little to "feel" something. Stay hydrated!

Bring some Vitalyte or Pedialyte, and use frequently, or go to Medical, and let them poke your arm. Otherwise you'll be back in several days anyway for antibiotics when you have a nice infection (or an embolism) from doin' it wrong. :D

I used to be a wilderness firefighter(heli-rappeller) for 10 years.

When we were hung over we would take hits off the O2 tank in the cache.
Oxygen does wonders for a hangover.

WARNING: Oxygen is also very flammable.

My formula is this:

Drink a shit ton of water prior to the burn. A gallon a day at least.

Bring a shit ton of water with you. Get a camelpak and drink water all the time. Pretty much whenever you are awake.

Alternate your highs by day:
Monday - acclimate. A little weed - a glass of vodka and juice. But be mellow.
Tuesday - eat some shrooms...
Wednesday - recover a bit and go with Monday's diet.
ETC. Go big on Sat yes... Go mellow during the temple burn and leave Monday refreshed instead of hung over...

Bring a hexayurt and small battery powered fan.
You cannot beat the heat, dust, rain, and get noise reduction in another other shelter unless you have a 2011 Airstream. And that would make you a) rich, and b) a pussy.
(Just kidding - whatever you can afford is cool - but you can build a DOPE yurt for $300).

Get some noise canceling headphones. They do help.
Earplugs if not....

Now. Start your day at 1-2pm. Wake up. Eat lots of fruit. I prefer watermelon and grapes. Oh and cucumber. Shit that's 90% water. Some small protein and carbs. But you probably won't want a 5-coarse Grand Slam. Take a shower. Drink lot's of water. Go explore and make new friends. Come back to camp. Quick cat nap. Up by 5-6pm. Shower, and very light dinner. Pack for the night. Lot's of snacks and water. Plan to be up for the next 12 hours. As the sun sets...hit the Playa and do your thing.

At about sun-up...roll home and smile at everyone you meet along the way. Look for opportunities to help. Pick up some trash. Help a brother or sister out. Come home tired but karmically charged...quick rise off/shower. Wipe your feet with Apple Vinegar. Apply liberal amounts of lotion all over your body. Especially your feet. Put on some socks to keep them lotiony all night. Pass out. Sleep till about 1-2 pm. Repeat for 7 days. Have the best experience of your life.

Seriously though. Just alternate days on your drugs and booze and you'll be much happier.

Or go hard as fuck and crash like a meteor by Saturday. I guess it's all the same... But this method has served me well... My fourth week this year! STOKED!!! STOKED!! STOKED!!! COMING HOME SOON!!!

The biggest hurdle I've found, no matter what...is simply getting enough sleep. With all the noise, cacophony, fairies, boobies and people with wings on, it's hard to recover. Ambien is useful -- and some way to keep cool. Finally, listen to the advice of the clown:

No it is a god clown, or in other words a clown dressed up to look like god.

The easiest way to verify this is to check the pubic hair. It is almost always red.

In my way of thinking, if you have to take extra drugs in order to be able to 'come down' or chill out so you can sleep, you may be taking too much of something else. Do be careful, since that kind of behavior significantly increases the chances of unexpected/unwanted drug interactions, and nobody wants that to happen.

I do like to enjoy myself out on the playa, but I'm not going for any kind of consumption or tolerance records. Keith Richards or <insert rockstar name here> can keep the title, I'm aiming more for a 'sustainable ridiculousness' kind of lifestyle :)

I awoke at 8 a.m. on the Sunday before Burning Man 2010. By the time I went to bed it was the following Tuesday about 2 a.m. The rest of the week I probably averaged about 5 hours sleep per day. Most of it in naps.
