Burning Man Plot in Children's Cartoon: Jimmy Neutron
You know Burning Man is changing the world when children's cartoons are not so covertly referring to the event.
In episode 40 of the "Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius," which first aired on June 7, 2004, Jimmy spends the weekend with the Wheezers because his parents are going camping in the Desert for the Burning Duck Festival.
All I can say is Jimmy sure has cool parents!

Probably more likely that the animators and artists that work on Jimmy Neutron and wanted to give a little wink to fellow burners.
But there is no denying that Burning Man is becoming well known. Too well known if you ask me. The more attention we get, the more people show up, the more local governments want to shove their noses into what's going on in an attempt to cash in on some easy money.

Some where on one of the Tribe(kids show where all the adults are dead from plague or some such) web sites it gives background on the characters. One of the kid’s family took him to burningman and the people started dying from the virus there. It was so bad that they burned the bodies with the Man. In this future there were over 100,000 at the festival.
Interesting that the portrayed the event getting that big kind of sucks that it helped to bring down civilization.
Don't watch or know the show myself but my house mate watches it.

Last night on "The Daily Show" Samantha Bee's August Mark Your Calender segment ended with, "...and at the end of the month we have the Republican Natioanl Convention. Coincidentaly this is the same time as the Burningman Festival in Nevada. If you're torn over which event to attend, here's a little tip: you don't exist."
I'm always conflicted about this whole issue. Half of my brain shouts, "No! Don't tell! Everyone's gonna know! They can't come in and ruin everything! They'll see the Big Board" The other half yells, "It's great. It's about inclusion. Let the people see what's possible and they will want to change the world." Then another voice whispers, "Yog Soggoth shall rise. Fear the Necropolis. Flight 19. Who runs America. Adfam Weishaupt will rise. Nectos! Nectos!" Then I usually have a yoo-hoo.
What was the question again?

I have no idea which episode it was, but it was referred to specifically on
The Simpsons.
Lisa goes to a nature activist meeting and the leader of the meeting, a handsome boy with dreads, tells the group that they need a volunteer to stay in an endangered tree. He says "This means once you're up there, you won't be able to come down for anything. Not for a Phish concert - not even for Burning Man."
