Aiding ticketless burners ticket revocation is FASCIST

A couple of years ago I had a friend who gave her BM ticket away and then made a half hearted attempt to get in without a ticket............
She was caught and I was picked up from my camp by perimeter - paid her ticket - and that was that.

Now there are no tickets for sale at the gate - and [*]ticketless people trying to enter are released to the default world - ok - that is what you risk - however
when that person is dumb enough to inform who helped him or her get the desert - and perimeter manages to track 'm down - their tickets are revoked and those folks are kicked out to - unannounced policy chance since ????

From the perimeter exodus crew's site :

"We look for stowaways. It costs a lot to run the infrastructure of a city of 50,000 and it’s unfair to those that support the city through their ticket purchase when free-loaders sneak in."

I have heard many a story about these supposed free loaders

- from a Paiute family I met on the playa - who came to pickup a teen daughter who managed to get in without a ticket and now come every year with the whole family -

- from a dear burner friend artist and contributor who every year manages to bring in a few sto-aways who help and built and return as paying customers as
they can -

and I for one hold no grudge against anyone being motivated to make it to our city - with or without ticket - I made beautiful friends at the fry bread stand in 2012 - Julio and Julia - 2 artist who came from Spain to come to the burn and did everything in their might to obtain tickets - without success and attempted to bring art and gifts the playa on Sunday, hours before the temple burn but were treated with contempt by perimeter .......

We CAN and DO provide - we are abundant and I see no reason to marginalize any - one for not having a ticket but wanting to come to BRC regardless...... to routinely revoke tickets of people who share this sentiment is FASCIST - to call anyone a free-loader just because they have no ticket is dumbass

- have we not all sneaked in a show - event - festie - concert at least once in our lives????

If they didn't punish them the event literally could not exist. While it feels magical, TTITD is not in and of itself magic. There are permits. It's federal land. If they don't control the population to within specified guidelines there will not be an event next year.

Burning Man isn't free. It costs a LOT of money to produce, for infrastructure, permits, legal issues, etc.
It IS a private party. It's not a right or a need.

Like FossaFerox said, no one is tracking down people at their camps and evicting them. I have several friends who work Perimeter and I know that's bullshit.
But whole carloads are turned away for harboring stowaways and that's perfectly justified.

I do hope more stowaways show up in my camp and announce themselves like the one who did just that this year. I got in his face and started screaming for a ranger with a radio - little plump old lady me backed him up over a half block and into an intersection before I let him escape. I was immediately given an ovation and cheers from about 100 people in the camps nearby who heard the ruckus.

This is MY event, one that I love. I have spent many years doing a lot of work and spending a lot of money to make it even better. I volunteer well over 70 hours every year on playa. I have personally paid for and given away many gift tickets to people who could not get a ticket, even through the scholarship or low income programs. To have someone show up at my camp, begging for food, water, booze, and a place to sleep because he stowed away makes me very angry. I ask that everyone who hopes this event continues in the future will contact a ranger when they encounter these people and have them escorted out. To me, it is exactly as if they are putting their hand in my pocket and taking my cash. They are stealing from all of us who made the sacrifices it takes to participate. Our city's resources are finite. I sincerely doubt that anyone who would sneak in would care very much about the principles and "civics" that we have to take great care to practice if we are to continue having this event in the future.

The OP gives us the argument that we must have all sneaked into some concert or other through the years. This is not the same as some commercial concert - not to me, and not to many of us - and no, I don't steal. Sneaking in is most certainly stealing, insultingly done in a city that encourages gifting instead. If you don't respect the producers of this event, don't go. If you do, why do you condone ripping them off?

The OP has resorted to nasty name calling to those on this thread that disagree with him. I am not surprised. It is my opinion that anyone caught aiding ticketless burners to stowaway should be put on a list of persons barred permanently from the event.
