Is Burning Man too mainstream now?
I was just flipping through the latest edition of Mad magazine (#534 August 2015), and Burning Man was mentioned there, in their "Planning for Your Summer Music Festival" article.
Re: Is Burning Man too mainstream now?
It has been mainstream for some time now, maybe a decade. Maid Marion went on a marketing / PR rampage back in the early - mid 2000's with interviews in Wired, radio shows of The Hat and is endless monologues.
It transformed from an Experiment in Culture to as you said "Summer Music Festival" destination.
Though the music festival label is terribly misleading, there is darn good bluegrass pickin' to be found there.
Need more Zydeco though.
