Feather Exchange camp. You turn in your feather boa and you get a moop free crochet one.

Feathered earrings and you get wire or leather ones.

Long plumes and you get a leather feather

Headdress and you get your head shaved and the locks tuned into a hair shirt.

Love him or hate him, the douche is right about one thing:

This highest level of disconnect starts and ends with the airport. How many fewer Screenwriter-Takers would show up if they had to actually spend time getting there, or in any way bring some of their own shit....

One of the biggest telling things is when he says his Burning Man visit would have been impossible without White Ocean.

Used White Ocean for a landmark when I was towing a busted art car back to a camp on 2:30 and B.

Otherwise I didn't "need" them!!!

So as not to disparage all Hollywood types, we have an Oscar winning writer/producer that camps with us and you would never be able to pick him out of the crowd. He participates just like everyone else in the camp.

If you’re a guy from two hours outside of Albuquerque, who works at a concrete mill, and you want to meet a Victoria’s Secret model, an international DJ, a Hollywood screenwriter (like moi, for instance), a software guru, or a Russian industrial baron, well then, White Ocean might just be the best chance that you are ever going to get. Just walk right into the so-called ‘VIP’ area behind the DJ. No one’s ever gonna stop you. Walk up to anyone and introduce yourself. You’ll get a hug, just like anywhere else on the Playa.
After that, you’re on your own. Radical Self-Reliance. Done!
"
I will have to say that this guy was doing pretty good up until this paragraph. He worked very hard to explain the PnP point of view, and while I don't agree with it, I was following the logic.

THEN this paragraph hits and he is gracing all the lowly, dusty peons with the wonderfulness of people like him. "Come to our private camp and you can meet all the special people that make the world go around". A HOLLYWOOD SCREENWRITER LIKE MOI, FOR INSTANCE!

Gimme a break.

Jesus H Christ! What a moron, a prime example of everything gone wrong. The only reason I'd want to meet those fuckers on playa would be to kick them off of my art car.

I love how this is still an issue years after everyone was telling us to shut up about it and stop complaining. I don't think the solution lies with the Borg, they've already embraced this bullshit and I think Bradtem has a point in that cracking down on it would only drive the desire for exclusivity.

It's up to us. Re-education camps and fat chicks will take back Burning Man. Death metal and punk rock wake-up calls at 8 a.m. I don't condone violence or vandalism and it's not clear as to whether any actually occurred this year but I'd wager it's a natural course.. How else to send the message?

White Ocean linked to this pathetic diatribe on their Facebook account, I suppose they feel it justifies them somehow. Christ, the cluelessness knows no bounds and goes all the way to the core of White Ocean. I hope they keep it up, it only makes it worse for them.

I'm thinking 20 guys, each with a nice new leaf blower, all in a conga line starting from upwind of the camp, advancing in lockstep, led by the Bonerpillar.

What say you guys?

Well actually the concrete factory is only about 30-45 minutes outside of Albuquerque.

Complaining is no use BMorg just approves of them.

Loud music with the intend to annoy is also vandalism (as is a deliberate dustcloud). Why not educate?

I'm in. It's a long ways to the next Burn, but let's remember this conversation here come next summer. I am completely down for helping to organize a non-violent, non-destructive protest against White Ocean next year.

Heh, was fun while it lasted. Wiki editor took out the fun stuff and commented in the version history page: "Yeah, he doesn't get Burning Man, but no need to vandalize the article." That's pretty funny in and of itself, so I'm OK with it. Ha.

I'm hoping the playa solves its own problem. Now, any conditions strong enough to flip a mega-RV would doubtless pulverize my hexayurt and the backup Coleman tent, but a week of destructive gusts bookended by squelching mud and a four-day freeze on travel would solve things for a while.

Shirt / vest felt press with other fibers supplementing would be a great invention! Maybe throw in some shredded treaties. You could skin the feathers and throw them into the felt too. Do other festivals have theme camps to do this too?

Seriously though, how do we turn shit into fertilizer?

Is there a different fertilizer for large sound camps vs other concierge camps? Where are we going / want to go with the culture?

What I have heard is close the airport and attack concierge sound camps with leaf blowers & a live music MV. What else?

List them in your posts!

If the playa somehow fails to deliver, how about an MV with 20 blowers blasting the ground in all directions while this plays at '11':

OK kids. We're not really vandals or hooligans. Are we? The internet is forever. That's what they teach us in harassment training every 2 years. From another source I learned not to hang on to anything I don't want to show up on the evidence table. If this thread is being linked to other sites you guys may want to tone it down. Eplayans aren't vigilantes. Personally, I don't care about White Ocean one way or the other. They bring music. They don't show up at my camp eating out of my snack box. It's fun to hate the P&P camps but I don't want the public at large to think we're a bunch of childish A-holes.

20 guys with leaf blowers clearly isnt an assault force. We're just ordinary guys exercising our constitutionally-guaranteed right of gardening on a Saturday afternoon!

Go with it.

Seriously: what are they going to complain about? The dust? Sure. Arrest me officer. Oh wait... Here comes a white-out. Better cover your choco-taco, Agent Love!!! Hehehehe....
