...a fascinating read on how Caleefornea governor Schwarzenegger may have undermined the planned coal mine construction near the Black Rock Desert.

Mesquite may still be a go because they can interconnect to Los ANgeles via Las Vegas and that could be economically feasable, considering ther eturn they'd get. AND it's far from Collie-four-knee-Ja so it would be unlikely to pollute CA air too bad...
Ely is in eastern Nevada, conveniently across a salt flat from SLC. Nevada power my eye - I know what they're looking at, and it's due east.
Then there's our local plant - Granite Fux - which is not only remote to it's intended market (the SF Bay Area and, via the Dulles, Portland) (then again, maybe Susanville will become a thriving megalopilis! >>ha ha ha<<) but is right *on* the Kali-forney-ahhhh border (OK, 40 miles as the vulture flys)...
Of the 3, I would think that Granny Fox would be absolutely afected by Schwarzenegger's actions... and (as much as some may hate this) I applaud him for it. True, it's not much of a stand, but it's better than caving to those who would build this behemoth at the expense of the local environment as some other of our state executives would have done.
Of course, there's the thing about local employment, but the Greedy Focks plant would never be to Gerlach and Empire what, say, the Ammo Depot is to Hawthorne.
Gotta boogie...
