The Oregon Country Fair is a little different then the Nevada regional. It's older at 49 than the Nevada Regional at 32. It is a festival which bought its land. It has humidity and mosquitos. It has a much stronger children emphasis. It has vending from small, many part time, businesses. Only long time vendors and volunteers can camp overnight. Oregon Country Fair participants have been long time BM campers and brought the first Internet to the playa. There is a large crossover of Nevada Regional and Oregon Country Fair campers. But the interesting point is that they too are thinking through cultural appropriation, generational values and even they selves & festivals being cultural appropriated.

Ha! The only thing OCF has in common with TTITD is that it’s held outdoors.some seeing eye wrote: ↑Mon Oct 08, 2018 2:59 pm

It’s a hippie-fest. Nothing more.
The article author is clueless and their drivel is mildly annoying.

No alcohol there even, but I was once asked by someone if I had some and my BM narc-detection-senses started tingling, but then I just truthfully said that I didn't have any. Anyway, what the hell, did I look like I was inebriated?

My camp neighbored with OCF/Camp I Am for a couple of burns.
Great neighbors.
Steep learning curve with performers.
WiFi and phone connection, solid.
I called them all BOB; names were extraneous.
Lovely.

Did OCF for the first 25 years . It was great .. Camping was 200$ in a horse pasture .. Had to move the horse apples to set a tent .. If you wanted to get high?? Just breath deep .. There was an NA/AA meeting at noon .. Well attended .. It was hard put, to find a port-a-pot .. Real people went there, until politics .. The locals discovered $$ .. Sanitation permits $$ ,, And it become yuppyville ..The whole downward slide right the 25th.. The local DA lost a murder trial .. To regain face, he sent police to enforce "clean and sober "
I'm the contraptioneer your mother warned you about.
