Looking for people to take in a stray

Post by Sandwichman » Thu Feb 12, 2004 1:51 pm

I am heading to BRC for my first time and would love to be a part of someones camp but am not cool enough to have friends that are part of any camp. I am looking for someone willing to take me under their wing proverbial or real and show me the ropes. In exchange I don't mind douing gopher work. I have worked as a sound tech and also am a performer so I have plenty to offer. I am into electronic music and would love to be around like minded people. Thanks

Take a look at last year's theme camps and see if there is something that interests you. Many of them have links or email addresses of people who are organizing their camps. You could get in touch with the ones that interest you and see what sparks from there.

That is how we hooked up with camps we've been with in the past.

Hi Stray

You just got yourself a Playa name.
I live in K-falls, and would be happy to have you on my team. There is an issue at BRC, one that often gets overlooked...the porta-potties.
You see, they got so bad in 2000 that the vendors gave us written notice that if we didn't make a serious effort to reduce the trash in the potties, that they wouldn't renew the contract. That means NOBODY would ever take our shit ever again if we failed (the word gets around fast in the sewage community). No shitters, no Burningman. It's that simple.

If you'd like to participate in a direct, useful, and very rewarding way, adopt the pottie cluster near where you live. Make it fun, make it weird, do whatever you can think of to encourage the citizenry to practice Excremental Correctness.

Good luck

I think this is a great idea, and I'll be pitching my campmates on participating in the adornment and occasional tidying-up of our nearest cluster. Can you give us a punch list of points to drive home?

Spewing forth

Post by robbidobbs » Fri Mar 12, 2004 4:04 pm

You are openning quite the treasure chest of pottie talk...
I'll refrain from spewing forth some Poo-etry or Hai-poos.

(You didn't think I could do it, didya?)

1) Only what was produced by your body, and the provided TP go into the Dark Deep.
2) Hovering BAD! Plant yer fanny on the seat.
3) Evaporate your grey water -- it doesn't go in there either.
4) Items/garbage/little pretties don't belong in the units. They have a habit of diving in.
5) Any decor that goes on the units, must come off by Event end. Any decor that goes on must stick, and not become moop. Duct tape and zip ties are the ONLY allowed adhesion devices.
6) Lighting the potties is really nice.
I'll be in my blanket fort until further notice.

I remember seeing lots of signs that were to the effect of:
If it wasn't in your body, don't put it in the potty.
