Last i heard, Pinky was taking a break and wouldn't be setting up again this year.

Though I did hear that soem of the old Pinky's crew might set something up.

There used to be a very small, not-kept-upwebsite for PInkys; I believe the last time I saw it it had been updated sometime before the 2002 burn.

I also heard from a reliable source that there would be no Pinky's this year. Unless another of his campmates would take the lead. When I heard this, my campmates and my own jaw just dropped. I wouldn't be surprised if entire camps simply won't come this year. Bummer.

By reading the posts here in E-playa, I have been overwhelmed by the support and positive feedback for Pinky's. The four years we had dropped anchor along 8:30 will truly be some of my fondest memories, and the friends met there, the most precious.

But I always felt that someday things would end, and that I would simply know when that time had come. There are so many reasons why now is a good time. The main one being that Pinky's can no longer be an anonymous oasis to be stumbled upon. The cat seems to be out of the bag on that, and we never intended, much less desired, to be one of the official "Things to do" while at Burningman. That, coupled with an attitude last year of "Where's my fucking drink", by many non-regular attendees, extreme exhaustion of the crew, and alot of bad blood between myself and some of my best friends (simply over a camp), let me know that it's time to finish. Everything has a beginning, a middle, and an end. In this end, I would like to thank each and every participant of Pinky's Prim Patty for an experience of such warmth and happiness that it's likely not to repeat anytime soon. For me, anyways.

Kisses, Pinky

Pinky's was the place I called home within my home on the playa last year. It was my first year and I soo fell in love with it that I have bought (and had made)nothing but pink outfits to wear this year.

I am saddened by this, truely, as Pinky's was one of my highlights of BM and my experience on the playa.

Thank you Pinky for welcomeing a virgin to you camp and showing the love the playa is all about.

I for one am heartbroken

It won't be Pinky's Prim Paddy by any stretch, but there will be something good and pink around 8:30, keep your eyes and ears open. We should be blending together a great week.

I'm saddened to hear about Pinky's. Loved it when I stumbled on it two years back and again last year. I hold a cup, dredged out of the depths of my camelback to those great Burners. Slainte. thank you.

A huge thank you and a warm hug to Pinky and his campmates. I have many fond memories of Pinky's, including a couple of fantastic nights during my first Burn in 2001. Those late evenings sitting at the Prim Paddy are still some of the best times I've had, and that is saying something in a world like Burning Man. Thank you, you will be missed.

Salute

Pinky's, I salute you! I stumbled upon your fine establishment my very first wide-eyed year at BRC in 2000. I was met with excellent, friendly people and given a delicious tasty beverage. I have always had a fond spot in my heart for Pinky's and I always will. Thank you so much for all the fine memories.

Pinky's was awesome, I do remember stumbling upon it 3-4 years ago,
it was my favorite late night place those years. Your neighborhood corner bar full of all kinds.
I didn't spend much time there last year as it got too crowded for my taste.
Thanks for the memories - Pinky - you did an awesome job.

I'm confuzzzzzed

Post by TheDude » Tue Aug 10, 2004 10:33 pm

I received an email a few weeks ago letting me know that there would not be a Pinky's this year. Sadness filled my heart.

It won't be the same! And, Pinky, dude, It sucks to have problems between friends. Especially with something that has do do with bringing so much pleasure and sweet memmories for so many. I never asked for drinks at the bar, but I did recieve some. I hope I wasn't one of those non locals that bugged you last year. I was so jacked up from last years pinky's that I wanted to donate booze, my construction skills, and as much time as you needed. Oh well, Thanks for all the good vibes!!

Pinky's is Gone, But Pink Love Lives On...

Post by ryelk » Thu Aug 19, 2004 4:46 pm

Hey all... along with so many people, I had some of the best moments not only of my Burns but of my life at Pinky's - it was (and is) a family of beautiful and visionary people. I was fortunate enough to be asked to play the music at last year's Pinky's, and I did it with as much love for all those around me as I could.

Unlike many of the Pinky's crew, I was a newcomer, and touched by something special at Pinky's, a few of us wanted to carry it on and keep it going... and we did, starting Pink Mammoth, an SF based nonprofit music and arts collective - none of it could have existed without the role Pinky's played in our lives.

And with what we've been given, we're now going back to the playa and doing our best to keep some pink love in the air. You'll find us at 8:30 and Mars, serving kickass drinks, playing great music, chilling under pink shade, and watching the shadows grow long on the playa. Come by, say Hi, and remember, we're all pink on the inside.

peace

I camped next door last year and enjoyed many pink moments that kept me going throughout the year! You rock! I'll be in your neck of the woods, wearing pink and creating more memories! Thanks for your love and creative spirit!

So what's the deal on this. There will or won't be a Pinky's Bar.
Or will it be a pheonix rising from the ashes that some Ex Pinkyers are doing.

No Pink...
bumminski...

well I'll never forget last years rock opera to Abby Road..it was an awesome Pinky's original.

We really enjoyed Pinkys and the likes of Player, Sassy, G& Toni

In fact last years constant need for more ice ..made us create an ice bike cart..for this year. We were going to run a supply line of ice to 830...

Thanks for the memories...

Members of Pinkys crew will still be camping at the same spot. It's the establishment itself that won't be there.

pinky's was indeed there, hugely popular, and except for a bunch of pink moop, they were awesome neighbors. open during the day, closing by sunset, and overall excellent. we were in the little yellow schoolbus camped right next door, and were very pleased with how well it was run and how respectful all the visitors were to the neighbors.

Kudos to Pinky's.... I always camped near them. Hopefully we will stumble upon Pinky's camp somewhere unexpected, sometime soon again.
