Ceramic Artists & Drummers @ Tanabata

Post by barkbarkbark » Wed Jul 21, 2004 9:35 pm

Bark here,

Camp Tanabata ( last year WhistleWorks ) is considering offering its ceramic studio to ceramic artists who might be interested in projects where they could make use of our facilities. During the weekdays the studio will be giving visitors asian tea bowls for them to glaze, the bowls are Raku fired in the evenings as part of a ceremony. However there are some hours during the weekend where no activities are yet planned.

We can't provide clay but I believe we can provide everything but, including sculpting tools, work benches and tables, brushes, glazes and kiln.

If interested email proposals to: [email protected]

Do ya gots a drum and ya likes ta beat it? Well good news happy campers! The whistleworks steam whistle project is returning. Now that we know that firing the acetylene torches full blast and cooking the kettle won't melt the tires, we are hoping to tow the whistle behind our mutant vehicle during the performance, leading a procession of drummers from center camp to the man.

If interested in joining the drum procession, email: [email protected]

I;ve been reading the calender and your camp definately looks like it's doing cool stuff. What's this "River of Fire" you're talking about? (The name and the fact that you're doing raku has me thinking of that festival in The Lost Fortress.)

Cermaics on the Playa!? THis is a dream come true.
I brought 100 pounds of clay to BM last year but, it being my first time, I ended up not even touching it.
I would definitely be willing to help with workshops, galzing, raku firing... anything for a full day or so.
I am a ceramic person living in Ojai, CA.
Let me know where you will be on the playa and what I can do to contribute my energy...

Dang it! Another example of artificially created life who will be on playa this year. I can't keep track anymore.
