Poi workshop?

Post by mtbeer » Thu Aug 05, 2004 9:16 pm

I recently came into the possession of a nice fire poi set and started teaching myself. I can do about seven or eight different spins now and want to learn more. Anyone know a camp that specializes in poi or offers any training?
Here is a great poi resource with lots of tutorials and do it yourself instructions for those interested in learning: www.homeofpoi.com
All you need to get started are a few simple items you can find around the house.

Did a little digging and found one: Faeryland Artists Guild, part of the Avalon Space Station: Earth and 6:30.

You are totally correct - the FaeryStar Artists Guild, part of the Isle of Avalon, located at 6:30 and Earth will be doing Poi Spinning Workshops.

I do not believe we will actually be working with Fire Poi, but rather Comet Poi. We will teach basic moves and it wil be a lot of fun.

I am brining all of my Poi to the playa and hope to spin fire for the first time.

See you on the Poi Fields of the FaeryStar Artists Guild.

I'll be there!, that's only one block from our camp.
They say your first time spinning fire is truly something special, even if you set yourself on fire Image
What better place than Burning Man, just make sure you have safe clothing and a wet towel ready. I'm not sure if i'm ready to light them up yet but I'll keep practicing until then.
