DMV abandonment issues?

Post by XS » Tue Aug 10, 2004 12:08 pm

I'm sure I'm not alone with regard to this ever looming issue... pending approval notification from DMV. I'm aware that the hotties at DMV have toiled through hundreds of applications and by now most everyone has heard or received a reply RE "yay or nay." Once again, I want to publically thank the DMV for their volunteer service to our community. You guys and gals rock the playa for your hard work.

However, there are still several applicants who have yet to hear from the DMV. I have received the e-mail confirmation that the application has been received, but nothing since. I have sent a couple "very Dale Carnegie" e-mails to the DMV inquiring as to the status of the application. Still no reply yet. So I've tried to wait patiently in the interim.

For those of us who applied on-time and in good faith, but haven't yet received a response, What's next? I'm confident my vehicle will pass based upon what criteria I've been able to clarify. But the bottom line is the caveat "Only those with e-mail invitations in hand will be allowed to bring their MV's past the gate for inspection, and licensing."

Will we be turned away and denied inspection based on this technicality? Will the DMV honor the effort of those who follow through and bring the vehicles all the way out to the playa for inspection even with out the e-mail invitation?

I understand that time is extremely precious now, and especially for those frantically finishing up their art projects. I'm certain the hotties at the DMV are now busy preparing for their own playa experience. A good friend has suggested, that if I haven't heard anything yet... don't hold my breath.

Ok, so... With everyone taking a deep breath... How many of us are in this unique and unfortunate predicament? I'm curious to know how pervasive this issue is.

After all, with just days to go, I'm hoping to have fun finishing my art project, rather than fume about it.

Thoughts? Ideas?

Many thanks.

When did you send in your application?

The DMV (last I heard) still has a fair number of applications that they are still working on, and since they are working on them in the order that they were received the answer to your question of "What's next?" will be very different if you submitted your application on July 15th (the last day) than if you submitted it a month earlier.

I don't know any official answer, but personally I'd say "Be patient" espicially to anyone who submitted their application in the final week (July 8th - July 15th)

I'm in a similar boat... while our camp's mutant vehicle has been approved the mini project that was being put together by a few of us as not even been noticed... neither a Yaya or Nay.

Since then however we've scrapped the smaller project in favor of kicking butt with our main piece. It would however be a bother if this was my situation and I had only the single pending project dedicated to this year.

Still I have no doubt the DMV hotties are knocking themselves out with what seems to be an expanded application system...

there's still some time yet.

After many deep breaths....

Thanks for your support guys. I just read a thread via the armory that revealed some helpful info. I knew there would be many a last minute applicant like myself (procrastinators local union #666) I have sinced learned that about half of the several hundred app's were received in the last week. Youch! Sorry DMV for feeling abandoned. Now I can relax a bit. My heart goes out and hat goes off to the poor souls slogging through the app's at DMV central.

Yep, according to the DMV, replies will go out in order of applications received.
