In Remembrance
Hey all. There have been so many of us who have lost folks this year, and it's been posted pretty randomly. I wanted to make a forum where we can remember and honour them together.
These are the folks I'll be trying to let go of this year:
Kamli Sawalha
Khalil Marshoud
Mohammed Abu Halima
Adbullah Titti
Sabieh
Mohammed Na'em Sareedeh
and, most of all, Riadh Abu Sallal
alerhamu....
i'll see you at the temple burn.

surlier than thou
.
My Mother and my Grandmother passed away within a week of each other in July.
I dodn't know my grandmother very well, but I will be thinking of her when I go this year.

Terri Hart, August 14 1962 - August 13 2004, Santa Cruz, California.
One of my best friends when I was growing up hung herself the day before she was going to turn 42. My mom sent the remembrance booklet they had at her funeral, and I just cried. She looked great. I keep asking myself, "Why did she commit suicide?"
School together through 8th grade, summer camp, riding horses, slumber parties, the whole shebang.
It's the one-year anniversary of my brother Michael's death to liver failure, too. Let's just say I'm gonna spend more time at the Temple of Stars than just my guardian angel shift on Burn Night.
THIS IS WHY I BURN. I can recapture the joys of childhood again, just go and be celebratory and do wild shit and laugh and hug and make friends. FRIENDS ARE YOUR GREATEST TREASURE. I last saw Terri when we graduated junior high school in '76 and never saw her again. STAY IN TOUCH WITH YOUR FRIENDS, NO MATTER WHAT.

I'd tend to believe it, though...Pepe has unofficially retired from doing Operas. For the next eight years, it's gonna be Annie Hallatt and/or Elonifer. Opera:the Next Generation...
Gotta stop eventually. Heck, who knows what we'll be doing in 2012?

I will be remembering my fiance's best friend Brandon who I unfortunately never got to meet. He died five years ago Sept. 9th of heart failure.
It's odd, even though I never met him, I feel like I know him very well and that at some time, I did know him. Does that make any sense at all?
I will also be honoring my grandfather who I miss, but know that in some way is still watching over me.
Thanks y'all.
