The fact is we do live in that world but is it right to just accept it or should we fight kicking and screaming to change it?

Of course not. To assume as much verges on the insanity that is paranoia. However, a healthy awareness of one's surroundings coupled with common sense behavior goes a long ways ensuring you don't get culled from the larger herd by by predators.

Perhaps the analogy is a weak one but my personal belief is that stalkers, rapists and other sexual predators behave very, very much like a top-of-pyramid hunting animal. They lie in wait, the seek and target their prey - usually quite methodically, they isolate and follow up with initially wounding or incapacitating them before going in for the final assault. There really isn't much of a difference.

Agreed. I think that I would emphasize the "target" aspect, that they can "smell fear" well not fear, but the wavering and ambiguity that means that they will be able to muddy the waters and leave their victims not simply raped, but also confused and conflicted about it.

I'll just note that there's an under belly to the event that most people are completely unaware of and never hear about. I've seen it too many times and it isn't pretty. As someone the event these days is very much a reflection of the society that makes up the default world. Same creep, same predators, same clueless assholes and same good and decent people.

I've seen some of the underbelly too. Not as long and not as intimately, but there's stuff that...

Thank you. I can understand a little skepticism of how clean cut this situation is (isn't) but I can't accept blaming the victim under any circumstances! Putting yourself in a stupid situation doesn't mean you deserve what happens to you.

Actually I did ask him. If you read my blog again you will see how he responded. I've tried to contact him over the years and talk to him about it and he refuses to speak to me. Do you think if someone raped you they're reall going to sit down an talk to you about it? Probably not. I naively thought, at times, over the years that there could be a possibility of healing if we could talk about everything.

Also, I'm not you, I don't get drunk, black out and have sex willingly with guys and then not remember it the next day. Maybe you don't really do it willingly either.

In my experience most the Burners women I've met are tough as nails.. but not all. We have failed multiple times over to create an equal footing for everyone to voice their opinion in the bedroom. Well, I fully admit my ignorance. There are lots of things that can make someone black out. Being drunk is one of them. If someone is drunk, don't trust that they will remember what they say. ...The fact that you can't always trust someone who's sober to remember either doesn't change the fact that you definitely should not trust someone who's drunk.
