I saw a lady tied up on the ground last year, in a different location. She was accross from our camp so I watched for a while and could see there were people watching out for her from a distance, and bringing her water. If you just rode up on her you wouldn't know that, she looked pretty bad. Most people rode past or stopped and looked and some talked to her and left her things, she didn't talk back and when I went up and "kissed" her feet with my fingers, she didn't look at me, had a blank stare. But she looked coherent and could have asked anyone for help, so it must have been what she wanted to be doing.

Hunh. I'm all for S/M, for people who enjoy it.. Hell, I might, if I knew what I was signing up for.. Still though, I think if I see that again I'm gonna cut her loose, (hey, participate, right?) and/or talk to a ranger about it, because I don't think a public street, even in Black Rock City, is the place for that kind of hardcore play. There are kids about. And, after what I read about "dosing" (people, especially female people, getting shit put into their drinks, etc), you just never know..

In the shadow of the duck.

Post by Brandy » Mon Feb 06, 2006 3:18 am

I have so many wonderful moments at the Man-- here is one more:
I had stayed up all night in amazement, watching all the activities around me. (You know how it is) I decided to walk to the outer edges of the playa to check out the scene. I think it was 2002 or 2003.There was a huge duck way out on the playa that turned into a jazz lounge at night. I came upon this duck at sunrise after walking for hours in platform boots. I was tired and needed a rest. In the shadow of the duck was a couch and it was calling me. I slept very happily for who knows how long, but when I woke up, I knew I had a long way to walk home. I sat up and tried to figure out how to get home. Just then, I heard a buzzing sound. It was a woman in full leather gear, riding a toilet bowl. She was the porta potty fairy. I watched her ride up to the nearest outlet and stock it full of handi-wipes, mints and tp--just because... I was amazed!! Then, just when I was getting discouraged about my trek home, a mouse rolled up to the couch in the shadow of the duck, and asked me if I needed a ride home. I hopped in and had an amazing ride home on the side-car of a motorcycle that had a parachute over it in the shape of a mouse. As crazy as it sounds, it was definetely a one time memorable experience......

Biking thru Hushville on their Naked Thursday (Tuesday?) I came upon
a very realistic playa mud statue of a large naked woman.

NO, there was a trace of motion. It was a live lady naked except
for a coating of playa dust. She stood almost totally motionless
for over an hour. Spectacular.

Later chatting with someone clothed and cleaned up -turned out
it was her. She said it was therapy.

'05 was my first burn and I spent most of the week alone until my husband joined me on Friday.

One of the things I think about most often (now, six months later) was the sudden realization that I couldn't escape myself on the playa. Although I met many wonderful people and enjoyed myself immensely, I was still struck by the fact that I had brought my everyday shyness, insecurities, and character flaws out into the desert with me.

My other memory was of a man I saw dancing to a drum circle at center camp. He was skirt-clad, bald, skinny, pale, and absolutely beautiful. His movements were graceful and unselfconscious, and in the moments that I watched him he was a work of art. I'm sure if I saw him later on the street, he would have been a different man to my eyes.

I can't wait to go back!

one night i was heading out from the corner of the city...

came across a group casting a bewitchment...

three circles spread across the city...

after stumbling across the first circle and feeling compelled to observe, i followed the crew through their ritual...

at the second circle there was a tibetan prayer wheel nearby, so i wrote 'fire shakti' on a piece of paper and spun the wheel through the duration of the second circle...

on the way to the third circle i got the urge to don my hooded garment, only to discover a hooded figure suspended in a cage at the perimeter of the third circle...it felt appropriate taking a seat next to the caged persona, to embody the uncaged...

at the third circle the three nearby windmills went up in flame at an appropriate moment

then one of them walked up next to me and stood in front of the caged persona...

he had a camera, spoke my birthname, and took a pic of the caged

i felt complete with the experience, so i quietly hopped on my bike and rode off into the city
instantiate vacuous truth

'05 was my first year on the playa. i spent alot of time at the hookahdome with some amazing people. any way as the night progressed i began to spin fire poi for the first time it was great. i had never done it before and i was permitted to spin aflame it was sweet. i later met a guy handing out "special" guacamole and carrots to dip it in. i got so buzzed from the guac. as the night progressed i had some shroom tea, it was like 3am and really cold the shroom tea really helped. i decided i would take a walk around it was mid week so i memorized my way around. while walking i saw some of the most amazing people. although im not certian they were real. i had a kind of alice in wonder land experience. it seemed like i sat on a park bench in deep playa. and had a nice conversation with a turtle (i think i imagined that) he was really deep in to phylosophy, we discussed politics, religion and how we could possibly make the world a better place. we departed and as i walked back to the hookahdome to get my shirt and other items i saw the most spectacular sunrise i think that even if it wasnt amplified by the drugs floating around in my system it would still be spectacular. i finally got to the hookahdome completely pooped and conked out on some pillows. i never had a better time, or a better talk with any one.

Kiss and Tell

Post by MamaMoonfire » Sun Feb 12, 2006 5:29 am

It was Thursday night, my campmates and I had decided to stick together for the entire evening. The whole night was memorable, this set the tone though.

We were leaving Spike's Vampire Bar in Center Camp and I was the last one out. When I reached the bikes parked out front, one of my mates was talking to a guy from Dublin. As I approached, the Dubliner turned to me asked if he could kiss me, very abruptly. Who am I to turn down a beautiful Irish man? What a first kiss on the playa! Firey and passionate, made my head swim for a moment. When he pulled away, he looked at me and asked, "Would you kiss my friend too?"

Another Dubliner? Sure, why not? We kissed, it was a bit quick for me with how very nice it was. Then the two of them looked at each other and asked together, "Would you kiss our other friend too?" 3 Irish boys in a row? I'm game.

However, this poor chap seemed inexperienced with the ladies. He came at me, leaning forward from the hips, eyes closed, mouth open for a big sloppy one. I couldn't help but to laugh and tell him, "Now laddie, that's no way to approach a lass." He hung his head and walked back to his original spot. Feeling bad, I told him to rethink his strategy and try again if he felt up to it. With no reply, I walked over to get my bike. Not but 2 minutes later, as I stood talking to my mates, he came shuffling over and asked for his second try.

Of course, I don't back out on promises made. He tenderly grabbed me and laid a kiss on me, which made riding a few mintues later hard on the knees. Afterwards he looked at me shyly and asked how he did, a glow of pride lit up his face when I honestly told him it was the best kiss I'd had in a long time.

The picture I have firmly in mind is the completely perplexed looks on my campmates' faces over the entire sequence. All I could do is shrug, laugh and say "What girl can say no to kissing an Irish boy or 3?"

I didn't see the 3 Irish Kissers again after that but I'll never forget them.
I am more lost now, with universal answers dripping from my tongue:
stardust honey
which feeds the soul and yet leaves it aching for more.

I already posted one experience, but I just remembered this one.

Driving home from BM '05 and entering Sacramento, I saw a woman in her 20's or so walking on the street. Of course, Sacramento was about 110 degrees at the time and I remember thinking "Why on earth is she wearing all those clothes - it's HOT out here!"

Burning Man certainly bends your mind in new directions :)
