Re: Last minute panic thread
It's like taking a cruise - you pack everything you think you might need and then go back and unpack at least 50% of it. Except for the virgins - then you pack everything you think you might need plus more
My only panic, at the moment, is hoping that the Playa is dry when I arrive so I can get in and set up. Oh shit - where did I put my ticket? Hmmmm - I know it was a safe place that I would remember. Damn senior moments - where is that thing? PANIC!!!!
You know it's going to be a bad day when you jump out of bed and miss the floor.

I've tried that in years past. Can never pick it up in Gerlach. Usually not until almost to the Gate Road.BoyScoutGirl wrote:That's what radio is for - you can tune into BMIR!Cactus Pete wrote:

We're going simple this year.... Which means that there isn't a whole lot to prep...
We're 95% ready to go, short packing and loading...
The fact that I don't have a huge list of shit to do-
IS FREAKING ME THE FUCK OUT CAUSE I MUST BE FORGETTING TO DO A BUNCH OF SHIT!!!!!!

My guess is that if you make a serious attempt to take care of yourself, and come up short, your camp will take care of you, if, for no other reason, that if we don't it may fuck with placement next year. I think that a dead body is one of the ways to get a black mark on the MOOP map.C.f.M. wrote:So much water? 2 gallons a day, for 11 days = 22...lemur wrote:why so much water?
Ha ha ha ha ha!!!! MATH IS HARD. I believe the internet would say "wut" or perhaps "ermegerd."
Ok, so still, 10+ of those 2-gallons is a lot to pack in and out for me (if I can do it at all).
I looked to see if Artica ice is drinkable, it is? But you need just over 8lbs to make a gallon. So...yeah. Thank you, so, SO much, for pointing out the eye-scorchingly obviously flaw in my math.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh ...
Still not done with projects. Still need to pack. Oh shit, what to do with the shattered-but-maybe-not-dead solar panel? Time to start canceling projects. Can't.
Got up at 3 a.m. this morning because I was restless. Didn't end up going back to bed. Not happy with my progress. Must pack ... tomorrow. Maybe Friday. Hopefully not Friday.
