I think a Stephen Hawking concert would be even cooler.
But nowhwere near as cool as my tentaive plans for the Stephen Hawking Canonball Express. I'm looking at the possibility of modifying a wheelchair with a 4 cylinder VF 700 Honda engine and faux pulse jets strapped to the sides.

This in lieu of having to cancel my plans for my playa art project this year which was to have been called the the 'Rock Em, Sock Em Hawkings'. Idea was to have a 30 dia wooden platform with two combatants in remote controlled wheelchairs. One would be all white and the other would be all black (representing the theoretical Stephen and the anti-Stephen duality) The audience would collectively be in charge of directing the wheelchairs to ram one or the other Hawking into a 4' dia hole in the middle of the stage representing the event horizon of a black hole. Throughout the battle, each would be hurling insults at the other using a small laptop with attached to speakers on the respective chairs.

It was an absinthe-induced idea...

M-kay, now, either would definitely be a nerdy project! My fave, though, is the Stephen/anti-Stephen thing.

Badger, we've got "green dragon" from the czech republic. . . will that be the bribe that finally gets you over to the house to share your diabolical ideas?

Piss Clear's 2002 burner signs

Post by jamison » Wed Sep 24, 2003 8:02 pm

I was looking through the Piss Clear archives (rationing myself to no more than one a day) and came across their list of signs your a burner from 2002.

I'm so going to have a slat shaker of playa dust next year. Last week I found a water bottle in my car, two thirds full of water that had gotten playa dust in it. I was so happy to drink some water that tasted "normal" again.

You are surprised by the anxious or downright hostile reaction you get to random comments in the street such as "There's nothing like a good nose blow." or "That really is your color" or even "Nice shoes."

- when people want to pack something, they look in your general direction and you're glad to have something to lash down
- you can cram more bits, boxes, poles, and stuff in a small vehicle than could possibly fit in there
- you build odd contraptions in your back yard that makes the neighborhood stop and go 'hmmmm?!?'
- your vehidle is all dusty, looks like crap, but runs great
- your idea of a good time is to figure out the wind load on an exposed surface at 80 mph
- when people walk in your workshop they call it the mad scientist's lair

When you get off a bus from downtown after drinking a shit load and notice two really nice pieces of wood just lying on the side of the road. You pick them up and take them home just because they might come in handy for a later project..

You become a mad, gleaming-eyed collector of:

Pallets
Bizarre fabric (on sale)
Miscellaneous lumber
Things that light up
Vehicles

You have held a fundraiser so you can afford to buy a couple yards of Luminex

When cooking for friends and family you sprinkle just a LITTLE playa dust into the meal to give it the ZIP it needs :)

My boyfriend brought home that cd a while before BM and I was laughing histerically by the 2nd or 3rd track...

All my co-workers *know* by now how much of a Burnerd I am - we were completing my team's move from side of the building to the other and I was haning up the two leis I received at BM. In a fit of nostalgia, I pressed them both to my face and the next thing everyone in the area around me heard was, "OH MY GOD!! Playa dust really DOES have a smell to it!!!" Not a sound was heard in the surrounding cubicles as I desperately tried to explain that I had heard that playa dust has a particular smell to it; I think they were wondering what else I was sniffing...

And I still have to email the "PG-version" pictures I promised to our field office when I returned. Ooops.

I needed to weld together a trike to ride on the playa...so I put an "out-of-order" sign on the apartment building clothes dryer, went back to my studio's side yard (lovely fate! that's where the electrical panel is), pulled the dryer breaker out and stuck in one with a pigtail for my want-ads find...a Lincoln 250 arc welder...woowoo! The neighbors were wondering what the @$%*%??!! heheheh...but it worked : )

Tiahaar, that's so money.

I was a bit sad today: I bought some pvc pipe and joints, but it was just to repair some uprooted sprinkler lines in my yard :(

Shit. Walking home from work Friday, I pass an Isuzu box truck, and think to myself how much stuff I could get to the playa with that thing, and how efficient it'd be doing it. Then I remembered, I'm not doing BM anymore.

Shit.

you know your not really back to the defalt world when your a 20 year old woman who doesn't understand why her friend is concerned about her going alone to the big dark city park at 2 am...

I just felt like sitting by some trees... it was wonderful to go a week and rarely have to be made aware that I was a single woman "alone"

Yeah it was great to walk around for a week, and have people starring at you, and when i say starring, i mean looking at your costume, or your theme you got going on. Now when i walk around, the MEN are starring at more then just what i am wearing. :? Got to love the reality we live in now.

the phrase "leave no trace" turns you on.
you have a thing for bike messengers.
You wonder why people bother to shower EVERY DAY
you strike up conversations with total strangers,
people notice how much your tolerance for alcohol has increased
I took the road less traveled, and now I would like to go back and find the paved one.
