DVD Burner you make a good point, that there can be Art in Sock puppetry, or as Zepher pointed out, not all socks are bad--it's in the use.

Honey: you ever been to the HS in Fish Lake Valley off 6 West near Tonopah? Great place to stop for a day (and night, or two...) to wash off the Playa crud (there's a hot shower rigged) and soak in HOT water, no shade on site but a GREAT place to decompress... I too am a H.S. junky!

I thought "socks" and "plonking" were things and acts shared by concenting adults, but I'm sure there's a thread for that as well!
Has anyone thought about WHAT the high levels of arsenic found just South of BR or radioactive tailings from the copper mines might be contributing to the ground water we spray to keep the dust down? -POL

Thanks for the spring info. I've never heard of the springs you mentioned, but I'm going to check it out for sure... The last few trips to the playa we stayed over at Benton on hwy 6. Beatuiful place to stop half way
For those who dont know, you can get a spot with a shower and a spring for 10 bucks.
In regards to the quality of frog pond water, I dont see a problem. The water has a slight sulpher smell but it is full of plant and fish life. There is
mineral in the water that adheres to galvanized pipe and leaves a white discloration. I'm sure it is some kind of calcification, but I will look in to it.
If your familiar with the springs below hover let me know. I would like to check that out this summer......

SCA ain't the same as thunderdome, as you know if you've participated in both. It will help, of course, but who know what Badger's background is? A dear freind of mine does the SCA thing pretty heavily. Heavily enough that, after winning a multi-day fighting tournement and beating everyone (triple figures I think) he was crowned king of his region (western U.S. and NZ I think). I have heard many tales of the SCA and discussed thunderdome with him. First of all, the Penzic War <sp?> held annually on public land in Pennsylvania, absolutely wrecks the large campground they use. Over 5,000 people tramping around boozing, fighting, crafting, and littering. NOT an LNT event. Second, he feels that somone who only does SCA style fighting might have a slight advantage over the uninitiated in TD but that any athletic ability or other training would easily compensate. Also, if you have ever seen SCA folks fighting, you would know that most of them lie at either physical extreme of weight and are nothing like fit. Pasty white fantasy geeks in carpet armor with rattan sticks. Easy pickins for my 6'4" multiple black belt SCA geek friend.

and fo peopel sayign that SCA destrpys land.they use parks,
they pay tohave them reseeded if needed. they usualy use dusty fields in parks that have nothign groing on them. they pay for their sites well.
