Turning back to the topic, that we will keep discussing until late August, I saw people with heavy machinery smoothing out different campsites last year. It made me wonder if whoever was doing that would offer the service to other camps. I was thinking specifically of you Fishy and all the problems you had in 08. I wouldn't guess how much they would charge (or if they charge), but it could be worthwhile to inquire.theCryptofishist wrote:DPW is thinking of having an ironing brigade out there in June. If they get enough people and enough giant irons, the playa should be smooth next October.
Suck it.

I belive its all based on how much whisky you can donate...and how far along the DPW are. They get the job done first...everything else is peripheral I think.Dr Jet Sinister wrote:Turning back to the topic, that we will keep discussing until late August, I saw people with heavy machinery smoothing out different campsites last year. I'd question how much that would help a person in Fishy's situationDr Jet Sinister wrote:Turning back to the topic, that we will keep discussing until late August, I saw people with heavy machinery smoothing out different campsites last year. flattening/spreading the humps, don't make the ground solid. In fact, it'd probably make it softer/fluffier.
you'd have to water and compact, to get a hard surface. Unless, the surface is hard, under the dune, and, you can be accurate enough to not disturb the crust.

"If seven maids, with seven mops
Swept for half a year
Do you suppose," the Walrus said
"That they could get it clear?"
"I doubt it," said the Carpenter
And shed a bitter tear.
