Indeed. It's not the file, it's a torrent descriptor file. You use BitTorrent client software to actually download the file. It downloads from many other computers on the Internet, so if one connection is slow or gets disconnected, the download can continue (as opposed to a FTP or HTTP download which must download the file in order from start-to-end, is limited by the speed and reliability of that one connection, and has limited provisions for recovering from a broken connection, so it's not particularly good for large files). You can read more about it at the Wikipedia article and find examples of client software from this article, although I use µTorrent (aka uTorrent) on a Mac and that works satisfactorily for me.

Bumping .. I'm using uTorrent to download the 1.1 gig "Burn Satellite.zip" mentioned earlier in this thread, and I got part of the file, but now there are 0 seeds. Could someone please seed the file again?

Here, I've uploaded it to Anonfiles as a JPG, as the 10x filesize TIFF gives you nothing additional. The archive has two images: the original full-sized image (90% of which doesn't even show BRC) that may require you to open it in Photoshop to view, and a cropped image of the city itself which is probably more useful.

Except the gigapan image is a "rough draft", messed up where the photos were stitched together. Some camps appear on top of each other like a double exposure gone wrong.

I'm not sure that higher resolution imagery from last year's event exists. GeoEye didn't have their 'best foot forward' so to speak (scheduling issues), and while there may have been other eyes in the sky, any companies or governments with footage haven't identified themselves or made footage available.

FWIW, Google has updated the image for BRC. It's not super high resolution and has some cloud shadows, but it's good enough the see the (upside-down) smiley we made in the street with our cooler water. http://tinyurl.com/l7xu8dy

I found our RV - the gigapan was taken, as far as I can tell, sometime Sat afternoon after we had left. The rest of the BRC Weekly camp is there, but our RV is gone. In this one, we still there!
