5 year absence

I first exprienced burningman last century 1996. Car Camp. Remember the sign that said "Paint this Truck".

By far that year was the best ever..............

I returned fours years in a row and then had to take a break to make a few kids.

I am returning without the wife and kids to enjoy the 20th.

Please tell me the energy is still there...........

I took a break after 2000 until I went again in 2004 (I think; all the years are starting to run together). While Burning Man is supposedly much different from when you went, it's still got the spirit. I should qualify that with the fact that I'm a firm believer that BURNING MAN IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT.

" The Energy " last year was my first, so I can't speak to any particular energy, But it was truly an incredible experience for me.

It seems many old timers get hung up on there past experiences, the ( last year was better ) syndrome. I think what some of them fail to take into account is they are different people that first walked onto the playa years ago, and the ecstatic experiences in the golden light of memory of their youthful exploits really can't be revisited.

The event has changed some as it's gotten bigger, But if you get rid of you preconceptions and expectations, trying to see things as though through the eyes of a virgin, It's still an experience that words are inadequate to describe.

Possibly some of the things that blew you away in the past will seem trite, or maybe that overwhelming feeling of inspiration won't strike you the same way but I think you have to look to your self to make your experience. keep your senses open and see it with the eyes you have now don't try to relive the past.
