Why firemen don't normally drop acid..
It might have been acid..I don't know.
In 2005, The Black Rock Roller Disco, decided to give our main man, "D", a night off. We found a replacement DJ, and went out on the playa as a group.
We went to the man first. After making our way through the maze on the ground level, we checked out the view from the second level. To leave, you either went back down the stairs or slid down a fireman's pole. We went for the pole, even though it was a little far from the edge..
I went down first, Then "D"..and before one of our campmates could go, some hippie girl went in front of her. She leaped towards the pole, and it seemed like slow motion, cause I don't think she even touched the pole. She dropped a good 10-12 feet to the ground. I flagged down a passing Ranger, and she was taken away. With enough excitement for one night, we decided to return back to camp.
I heard later, that she broke her back..to what extent, I don't know. I guess this is what they mean by "you voluntarily assume the risk of serious injury or death, by attending this event."

anything worth doing is worth overdoing..
I remember that maze. I gashed my leg on that wooden guillotine doorway. I bleed some but luckily had some quaze in my pocket. I found a Ranger outside the Man. I was a little shocky and he had me sit down on some steps in the shade.
I made me way to the med tent and they gave me a tetanus shot . My quaze was stuck to the wound. They poured a little saline on it and slowly pulled it off while I murmured ow, ow, oooh, oooh. They put a no-stick bandage on it and let me rest on a cot awhile. There were a couple of other people inside getting I.V. fluids for dehydration.
My motto that day was "ow, ow, oooh, oooh".

I heard she broke her arm.
I hated that maze with a passion. It got crowded and we were stuck in a room trying to get through the revolving door but some assclowns were blocking it and toking up a bowl. No way to move away from the smoke; my asthma went into high gear and I had a tidy and quiet little panic attack. Better once I got topside, but it was difficult to get me back out again.

That's why revolving doors on buildings either collapse and/or there are regular doors next to them. Revolving doors can easily become blocked and create a hazard in an emergence (a fire, for example, but not much chance of that at Burning Man, is there? So no liability issues for the BMORG, right?)AntiM wrote:I heard she broke her arm.

Did anyone try call out, in a panicked voice, "Oh God it's the COPS!"?

plus, if youve ever seen a bunch of people start rampaging through a revolving door, it usuall ends somewhat painfully when it gets spinning faster then the people trying to use it...BAS wrote:That's why revolving doors on buildings either collapse and/or there are regular doors next to them. Firemen normally don't drop acid because they;d end up seeing shit like this...
