Multi-year burner from the LA area here. Each year I volunteer for the Org and end up working 30+ hours out in the dust.
Next year I think I'd like to get involved with a large Art project...assembly and maybe working the event with it.
I'm not a terribly talented artist so pulling something off for myself I just don't think is do-able. But I am able-bodied, with tools and skills and would love to help someone realize their vision.
Anybody know some avenues to hook up with artists embarking on such things?
Links or tips would be much appreciated.

Start here:
http://www.laburningman.com/
then get to the Decom:
http://decom.laburningman.com/
Go and mingle, meet some folks.
Also, there are a lot of art projects that spawn at the Brewery. Do Labs, Abundant Sugar etc.
The key is to get involved right now and build them contacts.

Warning- after the hundreds and hundreds of hours and dollars in creating and transporting it to finally get to spend way more than 30 hours in the dust making the thing work/stay up/ stay lit, and then pack it all up to take home again you'll think working the org was a Hawaiian vacation but you will love it and then you'll do it again, but bigger...
