What were your favorite activities?? :)

Post by Antranik » Mon Oct 19, 2009 10:15 am

Hi everybody... what were some of your favorite activities at any of the burns from this year or years past? When I say activities, I just mean anything that involved you individually, or as a group, or like a workshop, etc. I would like to get some ideas down and mimic them for a local burner party in the future to make it MORE FUN!!

I'll share one thing I liked, it was very simple and COOL. At the center camp there was this stand with all these coffee-stirrer sticks and white-glue next to them. People would be writing some sort of message on the stick and then gluing it to the rest of the others and it was starting to take shape of its own and at the end of the week it had grown!

I thought that was neat. :D

Okay, your turn!

Inviting strangers to climb on my wooden structures.
Blowing on my horn and banging on my drum.
Hearing them hoot for joy.
Stuff like that.

Running the Roller Disco bar, then passing out behind it. Except 2008...wasn't as much fun.

The ePlaya/3playa Meet & Greet where it has been scientificly proven that even the Elephant Man can get laid while at Burning Man. Isn't that right Henry?

Ok, I'd heard of this, but had no idea how abjectly hilarious it can be. I was headed home one night, and saw a group of people in the dark, on a corner, they were doing some serious raver fishing (real fishing rod and urthing) and it was just hysterical. Esp. when one of them got a spotlight, for the moment of pick up.

Being in the crow's nest of the Gypsy Queen, when it stopped out fairly deep playa-ish and kicked everyone else off. The crew donned yellow slicks, and proceeded to net the large fish sound car.

Sitting at Zanzibar one night, with a cantankerous ranger (we got along splendidly), being assholes.

Oooo...and stealing a sign, and having the owner chase us to the point of puking overboard, once he stopped. Then kicking him off and throwing his sign after him.

Oh, and sashimi and sake.

And Sunday goofing off in Poly Paradise and sitting on Larry Harvey's balcony.

Oh, and being blindfolded and led across a pile of glass, barefoot, at that British pub that got fined for serving a minor. I wish I had some footage of that.

That's exactly what I did. I hopped on many different art cars and talked to so many different people without even caring where the car was going!

AWESOME!

hopping art car to art car with no itenerary is a must, particularly if the art cars have easy enter/exits via easily climbed objects. A karaoke art car scooped me up at one point and provided a mobile stage for some wonderful shenanigans

By far without a doubt the most fun I had last year was doing a greeters shift wed morning with thirty of my campmates. It was hard to get Topless Deb to give us a shift, as were are an unnofficial camp (90+ people) and she wouldn't let us in 08, but she gave us a chance and we rocked her world. We were all in costume and had a total ball. It is always great to see poeple smile as they get back home! And to give them the first hug is a really fun experience. Many people were tearing up. I recommend it to anyone, its only four hours and really helps put ones burn into perspective.

A scoop on a karaoke MV is a good idea. ;)

I tried to board one car, but it was rimmed in broken glass.

Thanks for the welcome, pal. :(
