Pre-Burn Accident Last Year

Post by PavementBlues » Fri Jan 22, 2010 4:41 am

I was just wondering if anyone might have information regarding an accident that occurred last year on the road to Gerlach. All I know is that around Friday the week before the event, a buddy of mine and I were returning from a cargo run to Reno and as we wound our way along the cliff roads, a sign appeared that read "WARNING - ACCIDENT AHEAD". A few seconds later, a line of orange traffic cones surrounded a car-sized hole in the cliffside barrier.

It would have been a long fall, and ever since then I have been bothered by the image and wonder what happened. Was it a fellow Burner on their way back to the playa? A local driving to Reno? Whoever it was, my heart goes out to everyone affected.

I remember seeing the same spot PB. Looked like it was a nasty ride down.
Excuse me Ma'am, your going to feel a small prick.

Was that the one a few miles outside of Nixon? If so, that sign had been there a long, long time. I remember seeing it last May on the way up to Gerlach.
You know it's going to be a bad day when you jump out of bed and miss the floor.

I don't think so, as I had made a supply run two days before and hadn't noticed anything.

It was a truckload of Garlic that went through the barrier and over the cliff.
