SWINGSET @ BURNING MAN

So I was dreaming of the great adventures I will have my first time at BM this year and wouldn't a big ol swingset be magnificent! Closing your eyes, swinging to big beats, wind rushing 'round... you get the idea. Has anyone heard of this? Any more spontaneous ideas??

Was a huge swingset, around 9:00 and esplanade, in 1999. Looked downright dangerous, but tons 'o fun! I think a swingset would be a great playa toy!

Go out for the spring cleanup...get on a bike, and ride with your eyes shut. Also fun...

The huge swingset was there in 2000 too.
And yes, it's a great idea that has been done successfully and should be done again!

Totally cool ^.^ I'm a HUGE clean-up kid, I hope to be like Anti- moop queen this year. I had this idea for my ciggy ashtray.. Take a soda can and make a necklace out of it.

There are lots of untapped possibilities for modifying swing sets. You will want to stake the structure legs maybe four feet deep into the playa.

That picture gives you your bare bones, now ready for playa-fication. Also keep in mind that (if you were to go with a couch) three people politely swinging in it may be followed by five people acting like fools in it. Don't pick up an off-the-shelf unit without planning to strengthen it in many ways. Most important is that BRC needs your project, and Spring is close: It's time...

I know the guy who brought out the swingset in 2000 (1999 too I guess) and he said it was pretty difficult to set up. He injured himself doing it - at least partly I suppose because he didn't think it was a teamwork kind of project. I've tried to talk him into letting me take it out with some friends and setting it up, but no luck.
