Ha! I both agree with you and am offended, as a male, that the nude male figure is offensive.

As a gay male with a wife I can honestly say they're both the best. Every shape, color, texture, age & gender... it's all us. You don't have to want to sleep with them to appreciate the freedom they're feeling.

In my experience people are offended by the nudity of a group (not an individual) for one of two reasons: they're attracted to it and don't have enough self control not to look or act, or don't want to admit they find it attractive; or they're threatened by it, either because it represents a standard they can't measure up to or because it represents a loosening of control. Not saying those are always the case, but they certainly fit the vast majority of people-with-issues I know.

I don't go naked because, honestly, I'm not comfortable enough in my own skin - I'd love to be younger, thinner, more toned... I'm not. It's my issue (it certainly doesn't bug the boyfriend or some-other very very very close friends), but I certainly wouldn't judge others because of that.

Oh I agree, Eric. I was mostly joking. I LOVE seeing people let it all, literally, hang out. It's humans being goddamned human, for once a year.

Yes.

The virgin I met on Sunday, pre-opening, who exclaimed to the entire street corner that she'd only seen three naked men so far and none of them were attractive. It was probably meant to be a joke. One of them, unfortunately, was standing within earshot and had simply gotten up out of his tent in the morning to get dressed. Everybody just sort of winced and walked away.

I told her I couldn't help her because I'm hideous. We're all hideous here. Then I walked away too.

Sleeping alone sucked....it got cold. I could of had a cozy friend but he was just being too touchy creepy weird to me, everyone and everything all week. I dont think the combo of SSRI's and 12 shots a day is a good thing :(

Thats a tough one to plan for, you always gotta let that go with the flow. I had a completely freaking hot couple attack me one night, unfortunately they had boundaries. Imagine getting seduced and then being told there are boundaries! Oh well, hubby in default world was extremely nice to come home to at least :)

Best:
Osiris Wednesday night,
Sunrises at Robot Heart,
THE DESERT FOREST!!!
Our wonderful virgin,
Shopping for beach front property,
Gifting OJ Saturday morning,
Finally doing Roller Disco!
Having the Otter Pops last until Thursday,
Missing the Man burning.

Worst:
Empty bottles and cans in the potty,
Looking for a spot for us to sit and make out only to find a minefield of urine puddles,
Walking up to some dude pissing, pointing out the two rows of potties not forty yards away, only to be told, "The world is my toilet!" Really???
Drama with the Consulate a week after the burn.
Missing the Man burning.

Forgot a good one:
Late-night deep-playa dance party with mobile sound car (not Robot Heart) and the octopus car in full flame-on mode on Thurs. night. I was quite out of it, staring up with eyes closed fully enjoying the music when I feel someone touch my chest over my heart. I open my eyes to see a broadly smiling woman looking back at me. I look down and see she had placed a heart sticker on my shirt. I smile back at her, we hug, and then both go back to what we were doing.

Silly little moments like that are what keep me coming back every year.

We were relatively sober. Many of them weren't. But they were the best bunch of "kids" we met and thoroughly enjoyed their company and living next to them. In many ways, I hope my real kids grow up to posses many of their qualities. A perfect example of two cultures coming together. We really enjoyed taking care of them throughout the week...it helped ease the separation anxiety of being away from our own kids.

2. The amazing rehydration mocktails my wife was making. I hope she remembers how she made them, 'cause I'm addicted.

3. The weather. A little hot, a little dusty, a little rain, a little wind. A little of everything. It was a nice sampler.

I wouldn't say this is the "worst", but;

1. To the dude on 8:15 and Iris...just because you have a megaphone doesn't mean everything you say is witty. So when people didn't respond to your "wit", you don't need to sound like a petulant child each time. That is just admitting defeat. Oh, and burping into the megaphone gets old after 7 days.

2. Those fucking gas powered scooters. Fuck. I would hear them coming and expect to see a cool art car, only to see some yahoo barreling down the street. Too lazy to ride a bike? Then walk. Too lazy to walk? Then don't come.

3. Darkwads. Yes, I read the Darkwad thread. Great, you guys have better "night-vision" than most. Good for you. But are you able to see behind you? Because I can't count how many times I almost wiped you out as you sauntered leisurely down the middle of the street at night.

Fuck Camp was across the street from us, those guys were awesome. Yes, they weren't burping, they were saying "Fuck". Nice guys and DJ Damien provided a awesome soundtrack for our camp all week. We had multiple bull horns in our camp as well, but were smart enough to only use them sparingly. I can see how they could get annoying.
(Whoever had the gas powered scooter in that neighborhood was annoying tho.)

ok start with worst

going to bed tuesday night thinking I had got it wrong and wasn't welcome anymore.
a drunken Rambling monologue where i said things that i said wrong and shouldn't have said at all
Coming back to london
pissing off a camp member and not knowing how to fix it
drinking way too much and not leaving camp enough - hence not seeing virtually any of the amazing art and BRC in general
not talking much too savannah when she visited on tequila sunday
pissing my pants on tuesday
not getting more yummy goodness or remembering where it was to get more

Best

Coming back to camp and finding Simon. who i may have hero worshipped a little.
seeing people queue for hours at dye with dignity on monday
finding out i was still welcome and well loved
My camp mates Puppy, Archie (sorry we broke your scowl) Patrick (dusty) and Alex. you guys are awesome
having Misa and knowmad stay in Dread Pirate Barbie

being greeted every day by Prince of playa with a joyous "Lord Earl Duke of Fareham" and meeting him after I thought he had left
MyDearFriend, without who my burn would be impossible and who makes it so much more than I have a right too
Going out on too the playa to do the chanupa with Knownmad. being reminded as well as a rite its a right. It was an honour and deeply touching
tuesday with moon, getting rescued from ourselves by many eplayans and other burners (sorry i forget most of your names but i was soo high) then going to the swish embassy and the best damn dance camp on the playa (wish i could remember its name)
cherries in the swish Embassy and telling people to chew them (yes I am Evil)
the Swish Embassy
retrofrolic and after
yummy goodness
meeting people at the meet n greet who i didn't meet last time
Barbie death Camp - best damn camp on the playa and the people that live there

off the playa I had so many great moment, things i have always wanted to do, from driving for a day and a half on one road and from east to west america to staying in a shitty motel. being welcomed by Julias family into her and her mothers home (do we need beer?) eating in every fast food joint i had heard of. the Wadleigh's in Vegas and the sands in Reno

it has been such a pleasure spending 5 weeks in america i didn't want to go home. now i want to go back.

Best: Celebrating 4 year anniversary with my wife on the playa
Camping with the coolest 2 burners we know-Lynx and Bubbles rock my crotch
Having an Art Car
Having my own Theme Camp
Loving my 8th time home

Worst: Darktards...seriously 1 blinkie on your toe doesn't do shit idiot
"Tourists" and 1000's of irresponsible dipshits (more than I have ever seen)
Realizing Bm isn't what it used to be after this year and will never be the same
Having to let it go.......
There once was a girl, who had a curl
Right in the middle of her forehead
And when she was good, she was very, very good
But when she was bad, she was HORRID

I pissed my pants on Saturday, and it was actually a "best" for me.

I was so tired of the routine of drink drink drink to stay hydrated, then hobble off to find the nearest potties. Of course I would delay as long as possible, not wanting to leave the party (Bubbles&Bass, I'm looking at you!), and then end up almost limping in pain the last few blocks.

I found myself urgently hobbling along for the second time that morning, with the comforting blue glow visible off in the distance. So close, and yet so far! I was in actual pain.

I had reached that late-week state of near-total disinhibition. And I realized I simply didn't care; there was no actual reason for me to be enduring this pain; the idea that urine is "unclean" is default world thinking, and something I don't even subscribe to in the default world. I had a mini-epiphany, and my path became clear.

I stopped, turned around, and leisurely started back to whence I'd come. I let go of my bladder sphincter and my inhibitions, and pissed myself as I walked. I did it slowly, because it was glorious, and I wanted it to last. I smiled at everyone I passed; it mattered not if they could tell I was in the process of relieving myself. I was happy to share the moment.

It was better than an orgasm. The sweet relief, the early morning sun shining down on me. The warmth slowly spreading down one leg, soaking into my leg warmer and shoe (cheap converse, essentially disposable if it didn't clean up well, I figured). The realization that I had arrived in some meaningful way, had let go of this and so much else. Peace, total peace. No shame. No regret. The greatest two-block walk of my life.

I arrived back at the party and eagerly shared. I felt like Piss Christ, with good tidings to spread. Some got it, some didn't. It didn't matter, I understood the near-transcendent truth of my happy "accident".

It took some effort for me to not continue pissing myself for the remainder of the event. It was as though I had been un-potty-trained.

(Lest I become the next LABatman, let me state that I did avoid furniture until I had changed & wiped myself down.)

So now I bring to you the good tidings: it doesn't matter. Piss yourself if you must. Set yourself free.

If there is interest, I may organize a pants-pissing event for next year.
Keep Burning Man potentially natal.
