Random Thoughts from '04

Post by Sea Monkey » Thu Sep 09, 2004 3:35 pm

Here are my random reactions and notes from the '04 burn.

- How much trance is too much -- really?
-Thanks to whoever accientally dropped a baggie around 2:00 and Mars. The contents didn't go to waste.
- Fuck all you people who tossed garbage out along the road on the way out. If I ever catch anyone in the act, I WILL get your license plate number and vehicle description and I WILL do something about it.
- Why did people look at me funny when I greeted them with, "Happy New Year!" after the burn?
- Three burns, no love on the playa. I wish I was more outgoing. ;^(
- The four person expermental noise group performing in the big white bubble structure was cool.
- Everyone at Camp Hi! and Euphoria was great. Thanks for your hospitality.
- Despite the overabundance of psytrance; breakbeat, jungle, and drum and bass had a lot bigger presence on the playa this year. Yay! I'd still like to hear some UK Big Beat out there. It also seemed like there were more REAL DJs and fewer CDJs.
- The entertainment value of fire never gets old.

Probably more to come at my random discretion....

Peace, Love, and Flamethrowers,

Some to add

- I diddn't catch enough live music this year, maybe i'll try and bring some of my own with me next time.

- I missed the hammocks, diddn't seem to find any good ones to chill on this year.

- And your not alone 3 years and no love yet for me either, probably my fault for being so shy, even at my most outgoing, sat night.

- Yeah, i like trance, but there needs to be more of the other stuff.

I saw a lot less live music this year, kind of let me down

But what I did see was very uplifting and good, good times mos definetly

A lot more rap and hip hop and the like on the playa

That is a good thing :)

Oh, and a lot of dancehall too.. Big year for dancehall, but why?

I heard A LOT of rap on the playa. I found it... interesting. I have never actually sat down and listened to rap before, but I did on the playa, and its not so bad after all.

Something I learned : even when you are light up front to back, some drunk guy on a bike will crash into you and brake your toes ( yea 3 broken toes here! )

Honestly, I didnt stay in one place too long, I took a lot more class's this year than last. And i learned i can have just as much fun standing ( or sitting ) in line as i can moving about the open playa. I met SO many wonderful people and had some AMAZING conversations waiting in line for events.

You and me both - I had my very own "hunting license" this year, but by the time I made up my mind to actually USE the damn thing, my intended prey had already acquired his own target. *sigh* Next year....

This was my fourth year on the playa. if you have read the jagged texas redneck thread than you know I found love on the playa( first time) and lost it upon exodus. So be very careful what you wish for, It was so great and then it was atrain wreck. And I am not so sure about the the whole loved and lost thing

Try Silicon Valley
(Could be Simi Valley too, I suppose, but I know she's closer to me than that.)
