Need Info: Foreign Version of Wizard Of Oz Playing Outside

Post by Devil Boy » Thu Sep 09, 2004 5:16 pm

Came across this one of the nights late in the week. It was a screen...on the esplanade, around 9'oclock or so. It was playing the most amazing foreign version of The Wizard of Oz. I couldn't tell what country it was from....Greece? Russia? But it was fascinating. I really want to find out who was responsible for bringing it there and get more info about it. I'm a film buff and I've never seen this wonderful, crazy thing before. ANY INFO AT ALL APPRECIATED!!

it was turkish. turkey had a rash of remaking american films into barely recognizable wonderful pieces of low-budget beauty. they also did star wars, e.t., star trek, the exorcist, and a few others. they're really hard to find, and they're usually labeled "turkish star wars" or "turkish wizard of oz".
hopoe that helps.

good luck
