The requisite Burning Man cry came early!

Post by Sundial » Sat Aug 17, 2013 7:55 am

I don't know about you, but I've come to the conclusion that it is IMPOSSIBLE to get through a Burn without crying at least once. But this year it hit me before I could even get to the friggin' Playa!

What set me off was the first video at the top of the "Emotional Survival Guide" mentioned in the latest Jack Rabbit Speaks (definitely worth a read, by the way).
http://www.fest300.com/magazine/an-emot ... urning-man

Its the Burning Man edition of Dr. Seuss' "Oh, the Places You'll Go!". Just friggin' lost it. God dammit. =p

I don't know what it is about Burning Man. I never cry about anything anywhere else.

My first one came the day I realized I was impossibly going this year.

I'm doubting it's my last.
Worry is a misuse of imagination

He kept it hid And so did she.
They searched for blue Their whole life through,
Then passed right by- And never knew.”

This is your first year? Or did I misread that?

"requisite"? I have never cried at Burning Man.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

This podcast has some gems: http://burncast.tv/blog/index.php?id=51 ... 5062750642

Interview starts at 7:15

It's about the experiences of the founder of the first BRC camp, Hot Wheelz, that provided art cars and highly decorated motorized wheel chairs for people who need a little extra help getting around the playa.

We love so many BM experiences, but the heart-centered ones are special.

Same happened to me. Specifically, watching the 2012 RT documentary at 8:50 when the girl sings her version of "Home".

It was a nice emotional release in anticipation for this year.

Woo hoo, that's my vid. Glad you like it! I've shed tears watching it and other videos myself, in reply to the OP, including the Dr. Seuss video. Nothing makes me weepy like missing the playa does.

That is one of my favorite playa videos. The Krewella at the beginning is brilliant.

Home is good too, and I was quite surprised when passing through my living room to hear it (wife was watching Amercan Idol).

Thanks everyone! That affirmation is really nice. I love the idea that I'm adding something to the experience of BM for some people.

Really energizes me to make a video for this year. I've only recently gotten into taking pictures/video, and the first video I made from BM was 2011, here, which is definitely not up to the 2012 video. Oh well. Enjoy I guess?

That video is great too, and has a better soundtrack.
