Exodus 2013 - How was it?
Anyone with tales of their Exodus?
BMIR was reporting a wait time (Gate to pavement) of four hours shortly after the Temple Burn, and Monday around 8:00 a.m. of around six hours.

Re: Exodus 2013 - How was it?
After looking at the gathering clouds yesterday morning I decided to leave. It took me exactly (plus or minus a couple minutes) 4 hours from camp to Sparks.
You know it's going to be a bad day when you jump out of bed and miss the floor.
Re: Exodus 2013 - How was it?
good. I left at 9:30AM sunday and arrived in reno at around 2-2:30. It took almost an hour to get from the pavement through Gerlach, then it opened up.
See you in 2014

We got in line at 4:45 and hit Reno at 3:00am with only a quick 30 minute stop for Indian tacos and gas. Reficulus!

Re: Exodus 2013 - How was it?
We left camp on Sunday at about 4:00pm and hit pavement at about 11:00pm. Once we hit the pavement, it was slow and steady All the way to 80. Of course we stopped for Indian tacos on the way out. Man those are good

Well, I guess I'm the first to report a 12 hour Exodus experience! We left at 9:30PM sunday and hit pavement at 10:00AM Monday. We spent 5 hours going from K to M on 8:30.

Re: Exodus 2013 - How was it?
There has been a major accident on I 80 westbound near Truckee. At least four hour delays coming out of Reno. Burners were likely involved and people have been air evacuated to hospital, most likely the level 1 trauma center in Reno. I'm on Waze trying to identify the camp who's trailer was involved. There are no clear vehicle markings as the trailer was highly impacted.

Re: Exodus 2013 - How was it?
About 12 hours from camp to Reno for us - about 7 hours in line then stopped for a 2.5 hour sleep near pyramid lake because we were both so tired. We left about 9:30pm yesterday having watched the temple burn from the RV roof at our camp site after breakdown.

BMIR said that they closed the gate due to rain this afternoon for at least 2 hours...heard it around 3:30 PM. And that was when there already was a 6 hour trip to pavement! yuck....
Re: Exodus 2013 - How was it?
Hey burners - I lost my iPhone 5 just as I left the burn this year, and I'm desperate to get it back. Black case with Banff Centre Artist sticker on the back. OMG - lots of important information and many dirty sexts that I will never get back without it. Can't afford to buy a new one - please please please if you've found it help it find its way home to me.
I think it got lost either at my camp (Home Page) at 4:45 GDP, or maybe close to 5:00 on the road out late Sunday night.
If you have found it and are in Reno Monday/Tuesday, please call or text 604-816-0218 and we will come get it.
If you've got it but are not in Reno, please ship it COD to
SD Holman

Thank you so much!

Re: Exodus 2013 - How was it?
I passed the I-80 backup while headed eastbound about 3 hours ago (missed the burn this year but meeting a friend in Reno). The backup extended from the accident scene almost to Verdi. There was an extended section of stopped cars with people out of their vehicles and passing the time. Probably burners waiting for the next pulse. Glad to hear things are opening up again. Local news reports say the accident was DUI related. Back on the playa, I just spoke with my friend who was still waiting to reach paved road because of the earlier exit gate closing for rain. He says progress has been good since the gate reopened.

Re: Exodus 2013 - How was it?
Sunday, left camp around 7:45 AM, took about an hour and a half to get on pavement. smooth sailing at 5mph until the signed "one hour" zone merging. I got home to San Jose around 5:30. Took a half hour nap on 447, one hour out of Fernley, I was just too sleepy. There was stop and go on I-80 I can't remember where. Saw a Burner sort of trailer, dumped over, and a truck on a flat bed tow truck. Couches littered around. It was getting cleaned up. I didn't see an ambulance there, but the accident was on the Sig alert signs earlier on.
I didn't stop for an Indian taco, but did enjoy my Arby's roastbeast sandwich with horsey sauce, and curly fries, after filling up at Loves' in Fernley.

Had to wait some.. Talked to other burners I had not met on the playa..Some thing back up the pavement line for awhile.. When I hit the road it was 40 mph to Gerlach.
Quite easy..

Left camp at 5 on Saturday, was in Reno by 8 including a stop for Indian Tacos.

Friends just checked in departed camp at 7am- Interstellar and 930 pavement at 4pm, Reno at 730pm, RV pulling an Artcar.
Re: Exodus 2013 - How was it?
On the phone with someone still in line. They started out at 3:00pm. Only went 1 mile in 5 hours. Still 1 mile from the pavement. Not happy campers.

Are there still people not packed and not yet in line? Starting to feel a little worried about my son.
Re: Exodus 2013 - How was it?
Look up a few posts. There are people in line since 3:00 p.m. that as of an hour ago still hadn't reached the pavement.BalmyMommy wrote:Are there still people not packed and not yet in line? Starting to feel a little worried about my son.
Also, some people choose to do their waiting not-in-line, watching to see when it makes sense to go join the line.

Just spoke with my fiends who left camp at 2 PM. They are just coming out to the road at 10 PM.
Re: Exodus 2013 - How was it?
I left my camp at 4:30 and A around 4pm on Sunday. I got to the back of the exodus line around 5pm, hit the pavement at 8pm, and then made the slow roll to I-80. I was asleep in Reno by 11:30pm. Made it home to the Bay Area by 1pm.
