Grandma & her Bongo Drums

Post by Canoe » Thu Jan 16, 2014 8:53 pm

You may remember a Bucket Lister relocating to the coast, who wanted to stop at Burning Man on the way.

She said she'd like to stop en route to visit something she's always heard about that was worth checking out: Burning Man. Neither of us have ever been. We picked up one ticket, but need one more....This is undoubtedly her first and only chance she'll ever get to experience Burning Man. Please! Many thanks.

If you read those posts, you know that Grandma made it to Burning Man, got a great site with great neighbours and had a great time, and afterward finished her move safely to the beach in Oregon.

At Burning Man, newly setup in camp, Grandma needed a rest in the heat, while her driver (tibercio) went for a tour of the playa. As she was literally in the middle of relocating from Colorado to Oregon, she had everything with her, including her 4 foot bongo drums. (of course she does... Grandma wants to go to BM, of course she has bongo drums)

To keep the drums safe from the heat of the car, they were moved into the tent. Once Grandma had her rest, she was awake and casually starting playing her bongo drums, shortly getting into it. Tibercio returned to camp, to find her playing away in the tent. She started talking about how all the noise & music of the playa just seemed to flow along, as though it was all music going along with her drumming. Tibercio replied along the lines of

"It is. It's a band in the next street that's playing along to your drums... I passed them on the way back".
