Wild speculation about cause and effect things.

Post by 1durphul » Mon Jul 21, 2014 2:43 pm

Here is a thread to wildly speculate about why certain things happen at the event.

Here is my first wild speculation:

Bikes were left on the playa in such large numbers last year because of the police pulling so many people over for obstructed license plates due to rear bike racks.

Sure thing.

Burner Express will be the final nail in the coffin of the global pussyficatino of Burning Man. Green Tortoise at least had that stinky street vagrant hippie smell to it. The the BORG sponsored cattle drive is full bore realization of the ultimate commodification Marion started pushing a half decade ago in media marketing.

VIP tickets are just around the corner with all these sellout years and no way to grow revenues.

Simply upping the ticket price has been working just fine. They used to be $150-$200 through most of the 2000s.

Larry Harvey's increasingly erratic decisions are driven by that monkey gland operation he had in 2011.
(Seriously, those speculations are pretty tame by my standards.)

The poor cell reception around Black Rock City is actually caused by electromagnetic interference from Fly Geyser, northwest of BRC.

the tunnel bored in by the Germans several years ago (see "Power to the playa, and part of "ein hammer" threads"
will collapse and create a moat around the event one year..

Drinking the water at Fly Geyser has immediate, viagra-like effects. The actual reason for the parking passes is to keep track of the elderly men who come to partake.

The federal government permits the event because they use it to test new drugs and weaponized forms of VD. The "dust control" water trucks are the dispersal method.

First Camp is only a diversion. The real first camp is Opulent Temple, and the day Opulent Temple stops showing up is the day that you'll know Burning Man is now owned by Coachella, LLC.

Sound camps are a distraction. They function by attracting all the crappy people who attend Burning Man looking for a massive rave to segregated sections of the city, which are then designed to trap you in a whirlwind of music and lightshows. By strategically placing them on the edges of the city, they bother the least amount of folks doing business, stick to themselves in very obvious locations, and they don't bring the frat party across the rest of the playa. The MOOP is contained to ten o'clock and two o'clock, for the most part. The noise travels across the playa, giving the city that pulse we all know, but away from the city so the least amount of people are bothered. The big DJ lineups are used to draw people in to central camps on ten and two, further distancing the worst kinds of tourism from the best parts of the city. The day party locations in the city are placed in such a way that the MOOP is predictable and you know where to avoid if you aren't looking for a massive boom-boom party.

Sound camps are honeypots for ravers!

But don't let THEM know that.

First they took our guns.
Then they wouldnt let us ride.
Then they outlawed our dogs.
Then our sacred medicines.
Finally they put us behind a fence in the middle of nowhere and said "this is your home".
Now they patrol our tribes "for our safety" and pretend to be one of us.

So. Am I describing a burner or native american community?

We are the testing ground for unknown purposes, with unidentified substances dispersed via PBR.

Now that the BMorg has sent all the tickets out to the authorized scalpers, and they've had a little time to work the market, the rest of us will start getting ours.

Has there been any update to the long standing research on whether ingesting playa dust during the off season can help trigger flash backs ?
