Wasn't There, But It Felt Like I Was

Post by deutlich » Thu Sep 04, 2014 8:12 pm

I mean, it didn't really.

But for not being able to attend this year (despite *really* wanting to go), it was wonderful getting to play along while the folks building BRC posted pictures and other social media outlets got updates and the ePlaya stayed active. It was kind of humbling, not having gotten a ticket this time around.

My first year (2012), I scored a low-income ticket and it absolutely MADE MY YEAR that I was able to go. The following year, I moved to SF and needed to regroup. Plus, I'd just gotten the job I have now and could not - by any means - even think about asking for time off.

But this year?

I just didn't do enough to make it happen. While said job has kept me afloat in the city, it's also kept me pretty drained. And where I was extremely involved in All The Things back east, I have yet to find that same connection here. I realize, though, this is mostly to do with me not looking hard enough.

All that aside, I am glad y'all are here. And it warms my heart to see all the folks who posted regularly when I first joined the ePlaya still posting. Even if none of y'all remember me. And it's extra nice to read up on your stories.

Can't wait to get dusty with y'all next year. And I look forward to involving myself in the Bay Area community more. Unless I move back to DC, in which case I will be getting all kinds of re-involved w/the crew back home.

Anyway - just wanted to say thanks.

Decompression is the day before Indigenous Peoples/Columbus Day. It might offer an easy way to reconnect.

Aw thank you!

I will be there. Possibly with bells on.

(Kidding about the bells.)
