Best quotes you've heard at the Burning Man

Post by vhphoto » Wed Nov 19, 2014 5:32 pm

Hello,
Some people may have touched you, by the accuracy, the beauty, the humour or the wisdom of their sentences.
I hope you can share it with me :)

Here is the one that touched me :
"What did coming here made you realize?
-That Disneyworld was like, really overrated"

""I hope my kid won't see your pictures. They'd be really jealous."

Hope you have some :D

Thank you for sharing!

Walking past people during camp setup

No, no, no, not there. We need five feet for this is fun, three for holy crap I'm drunk and another six for what the fuck did I do.

My first year there were some many things my campmates and I said that were so surreal and "only at burning man" that I wished I'd written them down more than I wished I'd taken more pictures. The only one I remember was my friend Sam (another Aussie) saying as we walked away from Charcadia "I'm glad you got to see that, they're going to drop a piano on it tomorrow" AmericanBoyfriend thought it was a weird Australian turn of phrase for "pull it down and pack up"

"Honey you don't want to be in your tent right now. It looks like Burning Man threw up in there."

In response to the dissaray within my tent.

Had kind of a wild night the night the Man burned... a friend was keeping an eye on me.

One night out on our art car a young lady asked what the big propane tanks were for, and I said they were for dual 30 foot flame throwers.

She asked why we needed flame throwers.

I replied "How else would you cook hot dogs!"

She just said "Oh" and went back to dancing as if nothing made more sense.

Wife and I overheard these kids talking. One was scared to try or didn't want to try something. Other kid said 'but, if you don't try new things, you might miss out on something that is really fun'.

not sure if parroting something heard by a parent or just a natural burner. or both. :D

Late afternoon dozing under the shade structure. Vaguely aware of a conversation going on nearby, when I hear a guy say, 'Yes I put pennies in my ass, take them out, clean them, and then leave them in take-a-penny leave-a-penny dishes around town"

Intrigued I sat up and asked him why. He replied, 'So that when someone pisses me off all I have to do is imagine that they have one of my ass-pennies in their pocket, and that thought makes me smile."

My brother had the best quote while we were waiting in the line of cars on Sunday down a stretch of desolate road.
A large black truck idles by and is gifting hot dogs as they pass waiting motorist, he was thrown one of these hot dogs.

He turns to me and goes "WTF, hot dogs, I'm a lifer".

We had not even been through the rain yet or the 29 hr hold over....

On my way to the potties. Guy shouts "Morning, beautiful lady with the toilet paper"

Am 56 years old. Just rolled out of bed after an afternoon of playing bocce ball and drinking tequila and an evening of seeing how much wine would fit in my cup. Not much of a "remember for always quote but it made me smile.

Second event. Standing in camp. Wind blows a little tied up scroll right to my feet. I pick up and open. It says "Rock bottom is a solid foundation upon which to build something new - Gary Z. McGee" Am going through some significant life changes so this really made my mouth form an O.

I'm with Organic Fruit and Veggie camp, one morning this year we did a Bacon Pancake and Reggae dance Party, which was very popular by the way. One of our camp mates said this:
" Just like acid, bacon pancakes can't make Reggae good".

"Can you imagine us coming here when we're 60" *Laughter* -- From "Girl Camp" next to me.

I wanted to say, "I'm 60"! but didn't. Next day I told one of them I overheard that conversation but the person I told wasn't one who took part.

Laughed pretty hard reading that.

Driving the art car around very late one night, picked up a particularly rowdy group, including one extremely inebriated guy dressed as Santa, who started making lewd comments. My wife leaned over to me and said, "I wouldn't sit on that Santa's lap if I were you." Since I was the tour guide for the night, I got on the mic and repeated that to the group. Of course, there was a rush to sit on his lap immediately, ha.

Had to kick him out of the car about 5 minutes later when he started to get a little too handsy.

At the Black Hole around 1 AM Thursday, an hour after getting off GPE shift at midnight, handful of us discussing when a day ends: by the time? Or by getting up after a night's sleep. (our conclusion: after sleep.)

One dude calmly remarks: "Then I've had a hell of a Monday." Continues sipping his beer, while we're all on the floor laughing!
