Update on Webcast

Post by Truslack » Mon Aug 28, 2017 2:46 pm

From our very own MottorbikeMatt, on-playa:

Friends, Burners, Countrypeople, lend me your eyes, for I have good news & bad news.

The good news:
the #BurningMan #Webcast will happen.

The bad news:

We have had a highly unusual set of circumstances this year regarding internet signal reception in this remote desert alkali dry lake bed that we call Home.

I promise you, we will turn on the livestream as soon as we're able to. I don't want to set expectations too optimistically, but it may be late Monday night our time.

Rest assured, none of us have forgotten you; that's how difficult this problem is. All team members here are methodically working the problem for ALL the participants, yourselves included.

Tell our friends.... Thanks for being patient! All my love.

Maybe it's time to consider the new 24GHz AirFiber long-haul links?

A bit pricey compared to the AirMAX line but worth it for the clean spectrum.

Also helps to have a 2Gb pipe compared to the 150 or 450 Mb pipes of AirMAX.

Distance and dust is the enemy.

70K people with smartphones, GoPros and the likes polluting the 2.4 and 5GHz bands are the enema. Let it flow.

Greetings earthlings, and my apologies for dropping the ball here on ePlaya.

I actually have the ePlaya page bookmarked on the webcast computer, but that's not been online yet because of the camera's specific demanding requirements.

As has been previously cut and paste from my Facebook update, we are having significant issues with the internet connectivity.

The best update I can offer is that we'll be online by this afternoon. I'll update this thread once online.

Matt

I don't think the participant network is up yet, either.

So, yes - Interenting on playa is hard.

Hope they figure it all out and know they will!

Work has commenced on specifics for the #BurningMan #Webcast IT setup. Anticipating pre-sunset broadcasting at this point. Stay tuned!

Matt, if your still climbing towers, get down and catch a warm PBR.

Hi Matt, we see stream

Audio good. Level good. No clipping.

Video good - not much motion In the frame but frame rate looks good on bike riders etc

And we posted on the threads that it's live.
