Trying to get The Yes out of my head, and into wood and steel.
Any takes, or comments?

This is a recent idea, I take it? I've got a couple questions...
1) To quote Chai - "That thing looks freakin' huge". Even if it's cardboard, at that size it'd be incredibly expensive.
2) How are you paying for it? Entirely from donations? I mean, c'mon.
3) From your site: "Public safety agencies will have no objections to The Yes." Um, and you can say this because...? Assuming the scale is anywhere near accurate, it looks like a good wind would turn it into a sail. You have seen the wind blow out there, right?
4) Again, quoting from your site: "When not at home in Black Rock City, The Yes is on permanent tour, spreading YES cross-country and world-wide." So, does this already exist, or are you tense-challenged?
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see it out there. I just don't see how, not anything like the scale you've shown anyways.
I can't wait to see what Bob thinks, that's fer dang sure!

I am in the process of making engineering decisions; the sketches online are preliminary, generated from the initial brain-wave.
The current plan is for the YES to 45 feet high and 15 feet wide. It will rise and collapse in three stages from within its trailer, and while it will be as transparent to the wind as possible, it will likely need considerable staking while on the playa.
I am not relying on donations. I am going to pay for complete engineering and construction plans and from there develop the budget for construction, fuel, maintenance, etc. At that point I will seek funding through grants and other sources.
I certainly realize its not going to make it to BRC in 2006, but I do plan on making Yes happen. I see it as a permanent traveling large scale interactive sculpture, where people everywhere get a chance to experience a form of what happens out on the playa.
