MiniMan deployed at San Francisco Decompression... Recon Briefing:
Yes, it was another hands down hit. You just can't loose with our little guy unless you take him to the wrong gig. Maybe the Mormon convention was a bad idea, but this decompression rocked solid!
A few things that stood out for him included the little two year old girl who followed MiniMan, dragging her parents from end to end of the "Esplinade". We danced and hugged and she was just, well, cuter than Cindy Loo Hoo in the original Grinch cartoon. I promised my girls I would bring them to next year's decom as it feels safe for children in the daytime.
As usual, co-creator Kernul Killbuck and I traded off as operator and handler, and it was a good thing because walking and dancing him on blacktop is alot harder on our respective bodies than soft playa. Lev was there giving great support as well.
People loved the hugs, and there were lots of "Oh, I missed you!"'s. It was a warm and windless afternoon, plus the fact that I could not keep my hands off him, so I took him out and turned his water mister on in the right wrist. Burners loved that especially when followed with a blow dry from the left wrist fed by an inflator motor.
The flash canons stopped working, and a playa el wire repair did not hold up too well as friction with the ski pole kept breaking it. The owner of Cool Neon, Benny actually showed up and helped me with a cool and solderless technique I was very pleased to learn. Thanks, Benny!
MiniMan was entranced by the Tesla coil pumping 1.5 million volts of lightning into thin air, right next to Satan's Colliape honking and gushing out a distressful durge.
Mark would lead the way with a large green acrylic light rod in his backpack so we could always "cut" through the crowd. We started to do some shtick of MiniMan trying to enter the porta-potty, backing up, trying again, then slumping over and walking off all dejected-like. Some good laughs from everybody except those who had to pee reeeeeeally bad.
I'll post some picks soon. Thanks for your support of our little man.
